Lifeissues.net: clear thinking about crucial issues

Dear Friends For Life,

You don't want to miss The Pill Kills National Symposium 2012 scheduled for June 2. The 90-minute symposium will feature nationally acclaimed speakers and television personalities guaranteed to clarify questions surrounding the pill and its disastrous impact on women and babies. Currently confirmed speakers are:

DR. ANGELA LANFRANCHI, a breast surgeon from New Jersey, who deals every day with the aftereffects of contraception on women. Dr. Lanfranchi is the cofounder and head of the Breast Cancer Prevention Institute. She cites a large body of evidence supporting the fact that the pill increases the risk of breast cancer. This includes a World Health Organization report that categorizes hormonal contraceptives as Group 1 carcinogens, saying they increase the risk of cervical, breast, and liver cancer.

GLORIA PURVIS is the creator and host of the upcoming television series "Authentically Free at Last." She will address the impact that the pill has had on minority communities and its role in black genocide. Gloria is on the board of the Northwest Pregnancy Center in the Washington, D.C. area and is chairperson for Black Catholics United for Life.

Rachel Maddow spent almost 20 minutes on her show Tuesday demonizing The Pill Kills, personhood, abortion exceptions, and other things that she considers "fringe" that have become less than fringe, in her opinion and much to her chagrin. You can watch her rant here.

The show has generated some hate mail and has also stirred up more media attention to this noble cause. Stopp International intends to take full advantage of the media storm to spread the truth about how The Pill Kills!

(IVF Babies): "Birth defects more common in IVF babies: study" -  Babies conceived through certain fertility treatment techniques are about one-third more likely to have a birth defect than babies conceived without any extra help from technology, according to a new review of several dozen studies.

ITEM #1: Organ transplants, 'brain death,' and Church teaching

Thus three times now, under two different pontificates, the Pontifical Academy of Sciences has concluded that the neurological criteria are a legitimate basis for determining death. No pope, no discastery of the Holy See, and no official consultative body to the Holy See has ever called into question this conclusion of the academy.

ITEM #2: Fertility Decline May Unhinge Asian Security, Expert Panel Says

"For years scholars have said that if fewer people were born, the world would be a safer place. It turns out the opposite is true," Dr. Susan Yoshihara told conferees at the 53rd annual convention of the International Studies Association, which drew more than 5000 scholars from around the world.

****************************************

ITEM #3: Scientific Report to FDA on Pesticides; Harm to Humans and Environment

The March 4 Morning Call contained an item, which informed readers that the Dutch began sending six mobile euthanasia teams to private homes. The Netherlands legalized euthanasia on April 1, 2002, and nearly 3,000 deaths are officially reported each year. The Netherlands Euthanasia Lobby - NVVE - expects to add another 1,000 deaths with mobile units.

****************************************

ITEM #4: New Site Pornographyaddiction.com Launches to Help People with Porn Addiction

The launch of pornographyaddiction.com will be a great resource for those looking for help and trying to understand the addiction.

****************************************

ITEM #5: Vietnam: Nearly third of children malnourished: report

The 2010 General Nutrition Survey released yesterday in Hanoi by the Health Ministry showed that 29.3 percent of children under the age of five suffer from stunted growth. The rate in 31 provinces tops 30 percent, while in two other provinces it is above 40 percent, according to the report.

****************************************

ITEM #6: Bangladesh: Mandating elderly care in a changing society

About five million people in Bangladesh are above the age of 60. The government provides a small monthly allowance of 300 taka (US$4) to about 2.3 million people.

****************************************

ITEM #7 Women More Likely to Have Mental Health Problems After Abortion

A new study from China shows that women who have experienced induced abortion have omnipresent mental health problems during a subsequent pregnancy. It also confirms that adverse mental health effects of induced abortion are far more severe than those of miscarriage and they persist longer.

****************************************

ITEM #8: 30% of web's total traffic is for porn: tech magazine

The planet's most popular porn site has three times the page views as CNN.com and the world's top 500 web destinations is riddled with dozens of porn sites.

****************************************

ITEM #9: Why I Love Designer Babies

[Note: The original version of this major policy presentation was given in 2008, and presented continuously since then to policy organizations across the country. The technology is already here now; extensive documentation in Irving, "Any Human Cell - iPS, Direct Programmed, Embryonic, Fetal or Adult - Can Be Genetically Engineered to Asexually Reproduce New Human Embryos for Purposes of Reproduction (‘Infertility')" (November 2011), at: http://www.lifeissues.net/writers/irv/irv_194cellasexuallyreproduce1.html. Appeals to "curing diseases", but what other purposes? They want to know what YOU think.  - Dianne N Irving, Ph.D.]

ITEM #10: Eugenics as a human right?

Currently there is a case before the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) that all of us across the world should be watching very carefully http://www.zenit.org/article-34581?l=english. A Latvian woman gave birth to a daughter with Down syndrome, and she filed a lawsuit against her physician in the courts of her country suing for damages. The woman claimed she was not informed of the possibility of prenatal testing to screen for Down syndrome which would have given her the option to terminate her pregnancy. She asserts that she did not benefit from the "prenatal care" necessary to treat her pregnancy, and one can conclude that the prenatal care is the screening for Down syndrome, and the treatment of her pregnancy after this "prenatal care" would have been termination. She has sued for compensation due to the emotional stress and financial injury that she sustained by having a child with Down syndrome.

****************************************

ITEM #11: Young Catholic women try to modernize the message on birth control

McGuire, 26, of Alexandria is part of a movement of younger, religiously conservative Catholic women who are trying to rebrand an often-ignored church teaching: its ban on birth control methods such as the Pill. Arguing that church theology has been poorly explained and encouraged, they want to shift the image of a traditional Catholic woman from one at home with children to one with a great, communicative sex life, a chemical-free body and babies only when the parents think the time is right.

****************************************

ITEM #12: The Downside of Cohabiting Before Marriage

Cohabitation in the United States has increased by more than 1,500 percent in the past half century. In 1960, about 450,000 unmarried couples lived together. Now the number is more than 7.5 million. The majority of young adults in their 20s will live with a romantic partner at least once, and more than half of all marriages will be preceded by cohabitation. This shift has been attributed to the sexual revolution and the availability of birth control, and in our current economy, sharing the bills makes cohabiting appealing. But when you talk to people in their 20s, you also hear about something else: cohabitation as prophylaxis.
