Time Magazine Ignores Vote, Honors Planned Parenthood Prez
Time magazine has, once again, honored Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards as one of the 100 most influential people in America despite the fact that a majority of Americans voted against including her in a poll it conducted.
LifeNews ran a campaign on Twitter, Facebook and other social media urging no votes in Time s poll asking about which celebrities, innovators, sports figures, clergy, activists and politicians it should include in its annual compilation of the most influential people in the United States. Voting against Richards, who runs the biggest abortion business in America, ran at a 3-1 and 2-1 clip against including her for most of the voting process until a push by Planned Parenthood at the end of the campaign almost brought Richards to a 50-50 parity.
In the end, the last vote publicly displayed before Time pulled the voting at the end of the process, showed a 52-48 percentage point margin against including Richards. Despite that, Time chose to honor the Planned Parenthood president by having feminist activist Sandra Fluke, made controversial by her promoting an Obama mandate that forces religious groups to purchase birth control and abortion-inducing drugs, write the effusive commentary about Richards. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/18/time-magazine-ignores-vote-honors-planned-parenthood-prez/
Pro-Life Advocate, Christian Leader Chuck Colson Near Death
Family and associates of Chuck Colson, a pro-life Christian writer who has graced the LifeNews web site dozens of times with his insightful analysis and opinion, are worried he is dangerously close to death.
Colson was in critical condition following emergency surgery to remove a blood clot from his brain. Colson, the founder of Prison Fellowship Ministries, had shown some early signs of potential for recovery, according to staff at the ministry, is hospitalized at a northern Virginia facility where he reportedly suffered a brain hemorrhage while speaking a couple weeks ago.
Jim Liske, CEO of Prison Fellowship Ministries, said Wednesday morning that Colson s condition was not improving. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/18/pro-life-advocate-christian-leader-chuck-colson-near-death/
Republicans Want Rice, Santorum or Christie as VP Pick
CNN conducted a new poll and released the results today about the top preference for Republicans for a potential running mate for likely nominee Mitt Romney, whom pro-life groups have been supported over the last two weeks.
Romney became a virtual lock for the nomination after his top opponent, pro-life former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, decided to leave the race last week and suspend his campaign. Naturally, Santorum is one of the top selections for GOP voters for Romney s running mate but he doesn t occupy the top spot.
Ask, which one would you most like to see Mitt Romney choose as his vice presidential running mate if Romney wins the Republican presidential nomination? Republican voters named pro-abortion former national security leader Condoleeza Rice, who worked in the Bush administration. Some 26 percent of Republicans picked the black Republican. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/18/republicans-want-rice-santorum-or-christie-as-vp-pick/
Is Planned Parenthood Using Tax Money to Push Liberal Causes?
Political campaigns make strange bedfellows. In some cases, they attract seemingly unrelated groups who donate money for a cause they both support.
A perfect demonstration of this was seen recently in Anchorage, Alaska, where the push to amend the city s non-discrimination code to include sexual orientation and transgender identity brought together Tim Gill, the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, and Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest.
While it s not surprising to see Gill financially supporting the homosexual agenda, most people probably never thought about Planned Parenthood giving $25,000 to the effort to change the Anchorage city code. But Planned Parenthood has been financially supporting the push for same-sex marriage and other aspects of the homosexual agenda in many other states for some time. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/18/is-planned-parenthood-using-tax-money-to-push-liberal-causes/
Michigan, Nevada, West Virginia Pro-Life Groups Back Romney
Statewide pro-life organizations continue to issues endorsements for Mitt Romney, who appears to be headed to a position as the Republican nominee against pro-abortion President Barack Obama. The Right to Life of Michigan Political Action Committee backed Romney yesterday.
RLM-PAC Chairman Paul Miller said, While the primary season can often be divisive, it is time for prolife people to come together and unite behind Mitt Romney to ensure President Barack Obama doesn t spend another four years in the White House. We need a prolife president who is willing to respect and defend the sanctity of human life.
Miller said Romney has pledged to support the Hyde Amendment, which prevents certain federal funds from going to pay for abortions, supports the reversal of Roe v. Wade, favors efforts to prohibit abortion providers like Planned Parenthood from receiving federal funding and has promised to appoint judges who follow the Constitution. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/18/michigan-nevada-west-virginia-pro-life-groups-back-romney/
Christian Biz Thirty-One Gifts Faces Heat for Planned Parenthood Tie
It seems like every time I turn around my Christian friends are having Thirty-One parties. I m not much for girl parties, but I have to admit, this stuff looked cute even to me, at least until I found out this Christian organization was helping to fund Planned Parenthood.
Thirty-One Gifts is a company based on principles from Proverbs 31 and is much lauded by ladies across the nation as being a Christian organization because of this. Many of its consultants are Christian women, even ministry leaders. On the outside it looks like a worthy place to build a business with biblical values; however, it s funding arm, Thirty-One Gives is giving money to abortion providers. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/18/christian-biz-thirty-one-gifts-faces-heat-for-planned-parenthood-tie/
Bishops Appeal Having to Refer Sex Trafficking Victims for Abortion
The nation s Catholic bishops have appealed a ruling a federal judge issued concerning a grant the nation s Catholic bishops received from the federal government. The judge said the bishops can t accept the funds because they do not refer victims of sex-trafficking for abortions.
The Obama administration, last year, revoked the grant to the bishops because they would not victimize women a second time with abortions.
Before that, since 2006, the health department has allowed the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops to limit the kind of services it offers women who are sex trafficking victims under the grant money it receives through the Trafficking Victims Protection Act. Sensitive to how women are exploited in the sex industry, the Catholic bishops prohibit any subcontractors from using the funds to pay for or promote abortions. Instead, the Catholic bishops provide comprehensive case management services to survivors including medical and mental health services. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/18/bishops-appeal-having-to-refer-sex-trafficking-victims-for-abortion/
Denver Nuggets Star JaVale McGee Almost an Abortion Victim
One of the longstanding pro-life arguments against abortion centers on the possibilities of the child whose life abortion denied.
As NBA teams head down the final stretch of the basketball season, a new column at Sports Illustrated profiles Denver Nuggets star JaVale McGee and his amazing basketball talents which almost were denied for the public s enjoyment because of abortion.
On a Saturday morning in the spring of 1987, Pamela McGee sat on the shore at Dockweiler State Beach in Los Angeles, 72 hours from a scheduled abortion. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/18/denver-nuggets-star-javale-mcgee-almost-an-abortion-victim/

Oregon Forces Taxpayers to Spend $11M on 26,000 Abortions
The 2011 and 2012 legislative sessions brought in a new wave of state efforts to stop taxpayer funding for abortions. Notably, states are not limiting their efforts to preventing direct public payment for abortions or abortion coverage, but are also working to prevent abortion providers from receiving public funds at all. The reasons for these efforts are clear money is fungible, and if abortion providers are receiving public funds to subsidize non-abortion activities, they have more funding available from other sources to expand their abortion businesses. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/18/oregon-forces-taxpayers-to-spend-11m-on-26000-abortions/
Parental Consent on Abortion Protects Young Women s Health
The Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act (CIANA) isn t mean-spirited, constitutionally suspect, or callous. It is a popular commonsense proposal that is fully constitutional. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/18/parental-consent-on-abortion-protects-young-womens-health/
Michigan Pro-Lifers Might Topple Pro-Abortion Debbie Stabenow
Nearly every election cycle Michigan flirts with the idea of electing Republicans on the federal level but typically settles on Democrats. 2012 could be the year to reverse that trend. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/18/michigan-pro-lifers-might-topple-pro-abortion-debbie-stabenow/
