While we work towards achieving pro-life victories in the mid-term elections this November, we must also remain viligant and keep watch on Congress. Last week, Senator Roland Burris offered an amendment to the Defense Authorization bill, in the Armed Services Committee, to allow elective abortion to be performed on domestic and international military bases. This is a drastic change from current military protocol.
This amendment passed the committee 15-12 and will be included in the Senate's Defense Authorization bill unless you act now. Write your Senators and ask them to vote against the bill if it includes language permitting abortions in military facilities.
John, if elective abortion is permitted on military bases, your tax dollars will be used to pay abortion practitioners, purchase abortion equipment, and fund facilities where abortions are performed. Americans made it clear to Congress that they do not want their tax dollars to directly fund or subsidize elective abortion during the health care debate. Congress did not listen then, so let's remind them again, loud and clear, that your hard earned money should not be going toward abortion.
Not only do you not want your money going to fund the killing of an innocent, unborn child, but military doctors don't want to be involved in this terrible practice either. When abortion was permitted on military bases for a short time during the Clinton Administration, military doctors would not participate.

Were there to be no support in the whole history of ethical and moral thought, were there no acknowledged confirmation from medical science, were the history of legal opinion to the contrary, we would still have to conclude on the basis of God's Holy Word that the unborn child is a person in the sight of God. He is protected by the sanctity of life graciously given to each individual by the Creator, Who alone places His image upon man and grants them any right to life which they have.
