Gallup Poll Shows Pro-Abortion Democrats May Face Massive November Losses
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- A new Gallup poll shows the pro-abortion Democrats who currently control Congress and worked with President Barack Obama for a massive pro-abortion health care bill could face tremendous losses come November. The poll historically shows Democrats with more support than Republicans.

That's why the large GOP advantage and the way in which Gallup shows independent voters leaning towards voting for Republicans, most of whom are pro-life, spells trouble for Obama and his abortion advocates in Congress.

Gallup tracking of 2010 congressional voting preferences shows Republicans moving back ahead of Democrats, 49% to 43%, by two points their largest lead of the campaign to date. Registered voters' preferences had been closely divided for the last several weeks.

The respected polling firm noted the new Republican lead came as Obama averaged a 46% job approval rating, his lowest weekly average to date.

"Two structural changes in the data help explain the shift. First, while the percentage of registered voters identifying as Republicans has been consistent over the past several weeks, during the last week there was a decline in the percentage of voters identifying as Democrats and an increase in independent identifiers," Gallup noted.

Also, Republicans continue to enjoy a healthy advantage in reported enthusiasm over Democrats -- 39% to 24% in the latest update. For the last four weeks, Democrats' voting enthusiasm has been at or below that of independents.

Conservative writer Ed Morrissey of HotAir noticed the new Gallup poll and said it is "a bad sign for Democrats heading into primary season in many states, and a welcome trend for Republicans." Full story at LifeNews.com

Kagan's First Case as Solicitor General Was Suppressing Pro-Life Free Speech
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- And old saying reminds people that if they forget history, they are condemned to repeat it. For a national pro-life group, an idea of where Elena Kagan will go on the Supreme Court is easily seen by taking a look at where she's been, and her first case she argued as Solicitor General worries Americans United for Life.

As the top lawyer for the Obama administration arguing cases before the high court, Kagan's first case, Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, had her arguing for campaign finance reform limits that suppressed the free speech rights of pro-life groups.

The case is the first Kagan argued, and lost, and it saw the Supreme Court go against Kagan's request and had it striking down a campaign finance reform provision that prohibited corporate independent expenditures for electioneering communication.

"In reality, the decision was a victory for the First Amendment," Americans United for Life says in a new memo provided to LifeNews.com.

"If the First Amendment right to freedom of speech means anything, surely it guarantees the right to speak about candidates for public office. Corporations may exercise their right to political speech," AUL says.

In practice, campaign finance reform laws have negatively impacted non-profit policy groups more dramatically than the vilified big corporation,' AUL notes. Full story at LifeNews.com

Hearing: Chinese Women Victimized by Forced Abortions Every 2.4 Seconds
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- A congressional hearing on Tuesday saw a panel of experts unveil information showing Chinese women are victimized by forced abortions every 2.4 seconds. Rep. Chris Smith, the pro-life leader in the House, chaired the panel discussion dubbed "No Choice Allowed."

The experts said as many as 35,000 abortions are done daily on women who don't want one but must be subjected to one because of the strict one-child policy.

Those numbers don't begin to include the men and women who are victims of forced sterilizations, who are imprisoned or sentenced to home detention, lose their jobs or face stiff fines, and the number of families who face similar abuses from the Chinese government.

Reggie Littlejohn, president of Women's Rights Without Borders, told the hearing, "Over 400 million children are not living in China because of the one-child policy. That's more than the population of the United States."

"Many people in America know about the one-child policy but don't know it leads to forced abortions," she added, according to a Washington Times report, and talked about how women are forcibly taken to hospitals and strapped to beds where they are forced to endure an abortion of their child. Father Frank Pavone: Why Pro-Abortion Politicians Shouldn't Receive Communion
by Father Frank Pavone
An important perspective to consider on the question of whether pro-abortion politicians should receive communion is the teaching of Jesus about the need to reconcile with our brothers and sisters before coming to the altar.

23 "Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift."

Those who allow abortion are not reconciled with their unborn brothers and sisters. To fail to see the equal dignity of children in the womb with children outside the womb is prejudice. To consider the unborn as "non-persons" and unworthy of Constitutional protection is an insult. And to consider one s unborn brothers and sisters as "tissue" or "parasites" is name-calling of the worst kind.

Those who do this have to go first and be reconciled with their unborn brothers and sisters before they can present their gift at the altar.

Communion is bestowed in the context of the Sacrifice of the Mass. That sacrifice is not only the sacrifice of Jesus, but of each of us along with Jesus. We offer him everything our thoughts, our opinions, our relationships, our choices. We bring our gift to the altar, because we want to be reconciled to God. But those who want to be one with God must be one with their neighbors all of them. Full story at LifeNews.com

Pregnancy Centers Fighting Back Against National Pro-Abortion Attacks
by Peggy Hartshorn
Attacks against pregnancy help centers have been occurring since the 1980 s, led by NARAL, the leading pro-abortion political force and ally of Planned Parenthood. In fact, for years, the pregnancy help movement has been brushing away the slander attacks like we fan away returning swarms of hornets.

But, at the same time, we have been developing a much stronger network of centers and friends and we are now ready to fight back and even take the sting out of the pests! A good offense often makes for a great defense, and this one provides us all a few positive things to do.

NARAL s strategy is outlined in womensenews.org (12-2-09), a feminist newsletter. First, publish studies that show that centers mislead women. Second, identify sympathetic lawmakers who will pass legislation restricting the free speech of pregnancy help centers in order to close them down. No matter that the studies rely on evidence gathered only by NARAL members who act as fake clients and try to trip up the centers they visit.

This is proving embarrassing for NARAL, however. When such a study was brought into hearings on a law to muzzle centers in Virginia, the expert witness for NARAL was forced to admit that their study contained methodological flaws!"

In hearings on a similar bill in Washington state, four of the six women who testified against our centers, upon close questioning by lawmakers, had to sheepishly admit that they were employed by either NARAL or Planned Parenthood! So, who is misleading whom? Full story at LifeNews.com

Houston Planned Parenthood Abortion Center Called "Holy and Sacred Ground"
Houston, TX (LifeNews.com) -- The gigantic abortion facility planned Parenthood now runs in Houston is a seven story, 78,000 square foot center that will eventually do abortions later in pregnancy. But, one Planned Parenthood official recently offered up a blasphemous prayer using religious terms for it.

As Jim Sedlak of STOPP International noticed in a news report, the pro-abortion official referred to the place built for the purpose of killing unborn children in abortion as sacred and holy ground.

Planned Parenthood is so much more than people think, and it is all of our job to tell everyone that it is not just associated with a certain word," the official said, referring to abortion.

Calling the largest abortion center in the nation sacred and holy ground," the official referred to it as The Planned Parenthood Prevention Park."

But Sedlak says he has a better term for it: a facility that is "killing preborn babies up to 16 weeks gestation, with plans to commence late term abortions up to 20 weeks in the near future."

"Planned Parenthood falls deeper and deeper into the dark abyss created by its own web of deception," he says of the euphemisms. Full story at LifeNews.com

Daily Kos Says Late-term Abortion Practitioner George Tiller Like Crucified Jesus
by Tim Graham
It's clear that abortionists think of themselves as saviors of women, but would anyone really dare to suggest that infamous late-term abortionist George Tiller was like.... a crucified Jesus Christ?

Yes. There it was on Daily Kos on Tuesday (albeit republished from the blog RH Reality Check), plainly headlined "Dr. Tiller's Crucifixion and Resurrection," a brazen rant on how Tiller was assassinated by the State because he was too "destabilizing to the oppressive status quo." The author simply uses the pseudonym "Trusting Women." Even as you read it, you can't believe it. Full story at LifeNews.com

Italian Governor Suggests Paying Women to Not Have Abortions, Keep Baby
Rome, Italy (LifeNews.com) -- An Italian governor in a northern region has suggest paying women to not have abortions and, instead, to keep their babies. The idea has come up before but Roberto Formigoni, governor of the Lombardy region, says financial difficulty should never become a reason for an abortion.

He says women should be offered 4,500 euros (about $5,000) divided in monthly installments, to not have an abortion.

Women qualifying for the non-abortion stipend must prove financial difficulty and they would receive the funds in 18 monthly payments to help them take care of the baby until, hopefully, they can make it on their own without government support.

According to a BBC report, Formigoni, a political ally of Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, said he wanted to support "the family, motherhood and births."

A representative of the Italian Bishops' Conference told the BBC the Catholic Church supports the idea: "Anything that respects life is to be applauded."

Lombardy has set aside 5 million euros, about $6.1 million, for the idea. Full story at LifeNews.com

Waterbury, Connecticut Planned Parenthood Abortion Referral Business Closes
Waterbury, CT (LifeNews.com) -- The Planned Parenthood abortion referral center in Waterbury, Connecticut is closing up shop after having a location there since 1985. The center closed on May 27 and Grace Mayer, a staffer there, said it had been doing abortion referrals in addition to legitimate medical services.

"We used to be the only provider," in town, she told the Record newspaper, but it appears competition for legitimate medical services hurt Planned Parenthood.

"Now we have more providers in town, like Waterbury Medical, that's made an impact," Mayer told the newspaper. "We had a lot of patients from the (Mad River Valley), but there are more practices -- private practices -- there and in Stowe as well."

Steve Trombley, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood's northern New England chapter, also commented to the record about the decision to close the abortion referral facility.

"(We) made this decision because we have three health centers that are close by and ready to provide services to our Waterbury patients," he said. "The Hyde Park, Williston and Barre Health Centers are available to meet all of our patients' health-care needs. We want to focus our resources more efficiently (to) allow us to continue to provide critical health care in numerous communities throughout northern New England."

Mayer explained that abortions were not done directly at the center but women seeking them were counseled to have one and sent to another Planned Parenthood facility to them. Full story at LifeNews.com

Texas Man Allegedly Used Abortion to Cover Up Pregnancy From Incest
Angleton, TX (LifeNews.com) -- A Texas man living in Boerne is facing sexual assault charges after police used DNA testing to determine he sexually assaulted a female relative multiple times over more than a decade. The young woman became pregnant at least three times starting when she was 16 and the man tried to cover his tracks with an abortion.

Douglas Wayne Ring, 47, stands accused of multiple counts of sexual assault, Angleton Police Sgt. Kirk Coleman informed The Facts, a Brazoria County publication.

Last week, a grand jury indicted Ring on charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child, sexual assault of a child and sexual assault and he could face life in prison for the most serious charges.

Ring s attorney, Richard Haynes, told The Facts, that his client is innocent.

He took a polygraph and passed it, Haynes said. But we'll see.

According to the news source, the young woman became pregnant and tried to kill the unborn baby by drinking beach. She was taken to a medical center for that 2003 incident and the unborn child later died.

After finding herself pregnant a second time, allegedly from Ring, he took the young woman to a Houston, Texas abortion center where he forced her to have an abortion. Full story at LifeNews.com

Ohio Senate OKs Ban on Human-Animal Hybrid Cloning Pro-Life Groups Back
Columbus, OH (LifeNews.com) -- The Ohio state Senate has approved a bill supported by pro-life groups that would ban human cloning and human-animal hybrids. The legislation is based on similar bans in Louisiana and Arizona.

Ohio Christian Alliance president Chris Long talked more about the vote.

"For the past seven years, OCA has been working tirelessly with members of the Ohio Legislature to ban embryonic stem cell research, human cloning, and in recent years, animal-human hybrid," he told LifeNews.com. "Science has advanced to the point where DNA from animals and humans can be intermixed in scientific laboratory experimentation."

"Animal-human hybrid research is currently being conducted in England, which many in the international medical community now consider to be a rogue medical state," he continued. "It is unknown how many U.S. laboratories are currently conducting similar research. Our office has been working with State Senator Steve Buehrer and other members of the Ohio Senate for the past three years to introduce this legislation." Full story at LifeNews.com
