LATEX TREACHERY: A TALE OF BETRAYAL Taking the pope's words and twisting them is something the secular media has often done. But, when the Vatican's own newspaper misrepresents the pope's statements, we should make our voices heard that this will not be tolerated. Today's commentary examines the latest controversy and explains what we can do to help defend the Holy Father. Included at the end is a link to a letter to Archbishop Timothy Dolan of the USCCB. Complete it with your personal information and, when you are finished, you may either e-mail it to the archbishop or print it out and fax it or send by regular mail. Let your voice be heard that this is an important issue, not only as a member of the Church family, but to you personally. This groundbreaking partnership is the first-of-its-kind in Chicago and can be a model for Catholic hospitals around the country. In preparation for setting new guidelines, the Pro-Life Action League arranged for Dr. Anthony Levatino, a former abortionist and practicing gynecologist from Las Cruces, N.M., to advise the hospital's physicians and staff on the procedures involved in a later-term abortion and the reversal of the process. |

Geeky Gadgets Long the stuff of sci-fi speculation, recent breakthroughs in stem cell research have now led to a full-fledged skin spray that can heal severe tissue damage. Alas, the test product underwent a successful demo at the University of Utah, where doctors at its Burn Care Center successfully applied the solution to an ailing diabetes patient's minor foot burn. Cardiothoracic Surgeon Amit Patel and Dr. Amelia Cochran were pleased with the result given the patient/subject history: Due to her diabetes, the woman with the foot burn suffered for several days as the wound refused to heal. The stem cell solution changed all that. A combination of recovered red blood cells, platelets, progenitor cells, calcium, and thrombin, the result is a spray whose application rapidly accelerates tissue growth. The initial success at the U. of Utah bodes well for the envisaged future of regenerative skin. | | | | |
