AMERICA/PERU -
Piura (Agenzia Fides) - During the celebration of the Vigil for unborn life in the Cathedral of Piura, Monsignor Luciano Maza, Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Piura, said that this celebration should remind everyone that “the Church feels the need to courageously give voice to those without one.” Mons. Maza invited all present in the Cathedral “to respect, protect, love and serve every human life.” “This requires celebrating the Gospel of life and this must be done in everyday life, lived in love for others and in the giving of oneself,” said the Vicar General, recalling that on this occasion the Holy Father invited the institutions that have social influence, the States and the media, “to strive for the promotion of a culture of life”.
The Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Piura asked those present to pray for unborn life and in atonement for the many children who died in the wombs of their mothers due to abortion, and that in the country there will be laws which respect human life. Diverse celebrations occurred throughout the country, with great numbers of the faithful, such as in Lima, Arequipa and other provinces. (CE) (Agenzia Fides 01/12/2010)
