Lifeissues.net: clear thinking about crucial issues

Dear Friends For Life,

Check out this video that explains how the pill is abortifacient (i.e., how it can kill your preborn baby without you even knowing):

During any discussion of the birth control pill, it is important to keep in mind that scientists have confirmed that at the moment the sperm and the egg join (fertilization), a new human being is created who is completely different from his/her mother.

The birth control pill works in three ways:

    1. It can prevent the release of an egg from the ovary (ovulation). However, while using the pill, women can and do experience breakthrough ovulation - meaning that an egg is released from the ovary and is available to be fertilized by the sperm.

    2. It also causes the cervical mucus to thicken, making it difficult for the sperm to reach the egg. It is possible, though, for the sperm to break through the mucus and to fertilize the egg.

    3. It also changes the lining of the uterus. This makes it difficult, if not impossible, for the five- to seven-day-old baby to attach to the lining, where he/she would receive the nourishment needed to grow. If the baby does not successfully attach to the lining, he/she dies and is expelled from the body during menstruation. This process is known as a chemical abortion. The fact that it can occur as a result of taking birth control pills is why the pill is referred to as an abortifacient.

The pill has as its goal rendering intercourse sterile or, alternatively, making it impossible for the newly created child to live. Its chemical composition has a profound negative impact on the bonding and relationship of the couple as well. Thus, the use of the pill strips marriage of its meaning and purpose because marriage and conjugal love are ordered by nature and by God toward two ends: Procreation and Strengthening the love between the spouses, creating society's most important community, the family, in which to raise children.

God Bless,
Jerry Novotny, OMI

(Youth): "Planned Parenthood boasts it reaches equivalent of 160,000 classrooms via online presence" -  Cecile Richards, PP president, spoke on the importance of technology in bypassing parents, school boards, and legislators to influence children. She admits that there is a social stigma to seeking Planned Parenthood's wares, and she is looking to the use of digital technology as the ultimate solution to reaching "kids" without having to deal with those barriers.

ITEM #1: Picturing the loss of 54 million unborn babies

Since abortion was legalized throughout America in Roe v. Wade, over 54 million babies have been aborted. Fifty-four million. This automatically sounds like a huge number - nearly too large for us to comprehend. How can we picture 54 million? But in order to be passionately motivated to stop this genocide, we need to picture it. We must try.

****************************************

ITEM #2: More intensified push needed to end global epidemic of tuberculosis

Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon marked this year's World Tuberculosis Day with a call for a greater push to eliminate once and for all the second top infectious killer of adults after HIV/AIDS.

****************************************

ITEM #3: Overmedication Of The Elderly Is A National Disgrace

Over the years, I have worked very hard getting the word out about this national disgrace. Our most vulnerable citizens in long-term care facilities do not have a voice and FATE has been able to fill that void by speaking loud and clear for them and their families about abuses in long-term care facilities and, in particular, the overmedication of the patients in those places.

****************************************

ITEM #4: MP and doctor Dan Poulter's expresses fears over right to die

Dr Dan Poulter will warn that current prosecution guidelines on assisted dying must not be passed into law as he believes they have the potential to lead to patients being killed simply to benefit their relatives - a risk he has seen on the wards.

****************************************

ITEM #5: What the church offers gay people

The Dignity of the Human Person:? The teaching of the Church is that we are to recognise the dignity of all people and not define or label them in terms of their sexual orientation. To do so is to risk losing sight of the fundamental identity of every person as a creature of God and, by grace, his child and heir to eternal life.

****************************************

ITEM #6: UN May Recognize Sex Rights for Ten-Year Old Children

The UN Commission on Population and Development is considering "sexual and reproductive health and rights" for children as young as ten. Even the Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon agrees. In a statement recently released he said, "Young people, as much as all people, share the human right to health, including sexual and reproductive health."

****************************************

ITEM #7 Why opposing the gay lobby is not anti-gay

Earlier this month the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation's (GLAAD) "Commentator Accountability Project" included me on their list of people who deserve special scrutiny before they can be engaged as commentators on the marriage debate. But it is organizations like GLAAD that need to be held accountable for the impact of their rhetoric on the public debate.

****************************************

ITEM #8: We loved our little Down's baby so much we adopted another

Strangers offer sympathy. Even family and friends were shocked. But these inspiring parents feel doubly blessed.

****************************************

ITEM #9: India's Aging Population

India's population ages 60 and older is projected to increase dramatically over the next four decades, from 8 percent in 2010 to 19 percent in 2050, according to the United Nations Population Division. By mid-century, this age group is expected to encompass 323 million people, a number greater than the total U.S. population in 2012. This profound shift in the share of older Indians—taking place in the context of changing family relationships and severely limited old-age income support—brings with it a variety of social, economic, and health care policy challenges.

****************************************

ITEM #10: China One Child Policy Results in High Female Suicide Rate

Stop for a minute and think about it: 500 female suicides per day in 2009. That's 3,500 suicides per week. Fifteen thousand per month; 182,500 suicides per year. If the rate has remained constant throughout the years, we are looking at millions of females taking their own lives in a matter of decades.

****************************************

ITEM #11: Switzerland: Assisted Suicide Deaths Up 700% in 11 Years

New figures published by a British newspaper show the number of assisted suicide deaths in Switzerland have jumped 700 percent in just 11 years, with more women taking their lives in assisted suicides than men.

ITEM #12: Surrogacy and Baby-Selling: Latest Fertility Industry Scandal

[Note: The following article from August 2011 is helpful in understanding the legal issues surrounding the more recent report: Emily Beitiks, "Illegal Surrogacy Operation the ‘Tip of the Iceberg'" (March 6, 2012), at: http://www.biopoliticaltimes.org/article.php?id=6107. - Dianne N Irving, Ph.D.]
