Baby killer sentenced to life without parole in Wayne County, Pa.

A Lake Ariel man who killed his newborn child by dropping a cinder block on her last year was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole in Wayne County Court this morning.Christopher T. Fitzpatrick, 21, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in March. As part of a plea agreement reached with Wayne County District Attorney Janine Edwards, the death penalty was taken off the table. Wayne County President Judge Raymond L. Hamill gave Mr. Fitzpatrick the mandatory life sentence in state prison without the possibility of parole this morning.In his plea agreement, Mr. Fitzpatrick agreed testify against his girlfriend, the newborn's mother, 29-year-old Jennifer A. Barrise, at her upcoming trial. Mr. Fitzpatrick has been incarcerated at the Wayne County Correctional Facility on charges of criminal homicide and concealing the death of a child for dropping a cinder block on his newborn daughter on May 28, 2011.
