Second Catholic College May Drop Health Care Over Obamacare Mandate
A second Catholic college is looking at dropping its health care package for students in the wake of the mandate the Obama administration put in place that requires religious and pro-life groups to pay for birth control and drugs that may cause abortions.

Ave Maria University President James Towey told FoxNews, "We're studying it right now. My own sense is, I don't see … how it makes sense for us to stay in this."

University officials plan to meet Monday to discuss their insurance options and potentially make a decision. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/05/17/second-catholic-college-may-drop-health-care-over-obamacare-mandate/

Congress Told Nation's Capital OKs Abortions Until Birth
Members of Congress at a hearing in the U.S. House today were told about how the nation's capital allows abortions all the way until birth. They were informed that one abortion facility in the District of Columbia openly advertises abortions at seven months into pregnancy, paid for via cash or credit card.

No more than five nations in the world have a legal policy that is this extreme, three doctors told members of the U.S. House Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on the Constitution. They supported the District of Columbia Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act (H.R. 3803), that would protect unborn children in the District after they have reached 20 weeks fetal age. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/05/17/congress-told-nations-capital-oks-abortions-until-birth/

Obama Campaign Video Features Planned Parenthood Prez
The Obama presidential campaign is out with a new video today featuring Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards, who makes the wild-eyed claim that presidential candidate Mitt Romney wants to take women back to the 1950s.

"We worked very hard with this administration to ensure that regardless of their employer to get access to birth control with no expensive co-pay or deductible," says Richards in what amounts to a two minute advertisement for the abortion business. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/05/17/obama-campaign-video-features-planned-parenthood-prez/

House Cmte Votes to De-Fund UNFPA, Restore Mexico City Policy
A U.S. House Committee voted to take on pro-abortion President Barack Obama and two of his early decisions to force Americans to fund pro-abortion groups. They voted to keep language in a foreign appropriations bill that defunds the UNFPA and restores the Mexico City Policy.

During his first week in office, Obama wasted no time in overturning the Mexico City Policy that President Bush put back in place after it was scrapped during the Clinton administration. The Mexico City Policy requires the more than 600 groups that receive State Department taxpayer funding to pledge not to promote or perform abortions with it. Abortion advocates objected to the measure for years during the Bush administration because they want to use the funds to do abortions overseas or lobby pro-life nations to reverse their laws against unlimited abortions. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/05/17/house-cmte-votes-to-de-fund-unfpa-restore-mexico-city-policy/

Unborn Baby Aborted After Ultrasound Misdiagnosed Disability
A faulty ultrasound diagnosis at two medical clinics led to the killing of a seven-month-old unborn child in Vietnam who was perfectly healthy.

Dr Pham Ba My, director of the Gia Lai Province General Hospital, told a Vietnamese news service that the baby died Sunday afternoon following an abortion after testing at the hospital earlier in the day. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/05/17/unborn-baby-aborted-after-ultrasound-misdiagnosed-disability/

Hong Kong Cracks Down on Chinese Evading One-Child-Policy
The former British colony of Hong Kong used to be a sea of freedom nestled into Communist China, which treats its citizens to extensive human rights abuses via the one-child policy limiting couples to having one baby.

In the past, women looking to evade the policy, with its provisions for forced abortions and sterilizations, went to Hong Kong in order to give birth to a child who would have normally been born illegally — subjecting families to fines, imprisonment or worse. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/05/16/study-planned-parenthod-tageting-college-students-with-abortion/

The Real War on Women: Abortion Drug RU 486 Injures Thousands
On Monday, a state trial court judge overturned an Oklahoma law intended to ensure the safe use of abortion-inducing drugs, such as RU-486. The law, enacted in 2011 and based upon an AUL model, simply required that abortion providers       administer the drugs in the manner approved by the FDA.

The state's interest in enacting such a law was clear: Since RU-486 was approved in 2000, thousands of women have faced complications, many life-threatening. Both the FDA and the drug manufacturer have acknowledged the substantial risk of complications following use. Fourteen women have died. Eight of those women died of a severe bacterial infection that would not otherwise harm healthy women. All eight of those women were instructed to use the drugs in a manner that directly contravened the approved FDA protocol. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/05/17/the-real-war-on-women-abortion-drug-ru-486-injures-thousands/

Teacher Rapes Student, Forces Her to Take Abortion Drug
Legal abortions are supposed to empower women and provide them with reproductive freedom. Yet, in cases seen across the globe, men are       the ones who are empower by abortion because it allows them a chance to display their power over women after they impregnate them. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/05/17/teacher-rapes-student-forces-her-to-take-abortion-drug/

Amdt Would Stop Obama's Funding Abortions for Illegal Immigrants
An amendment House Republicans added to legislation in Congress would prevent the Obama administration from paying for and arranging abortions for illegal immigrants who are detained by customs officials. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/05/17/amdt-would-stop-obamas-funding-abortions-for-illegal-immigrants/

Abby Johnson: Do I Deserve the Death Penalty for Abortion?
I am vehemently against the death penalty. Now stay with me…this is not a post about my opinion regarding that. You can disagree or agree with me on that some other time. I did want to share a little bit about why I take these matters so seriously. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/05/17/abby-johnson-do-i-deserve-the-death-penalty-for-abortion/

Study Proves Banning Abortion Doesn't Hurt Women's Health

Why Do More People Choose Abortion Over Adoption?
Remember the "Choose Your Own Adventure" books? My brothers and I pored over those as kids. On each step of your journey, you were given choices. You were in the Amazon. Did you want to ride a riverboat or travel to the ancient ruins by foot? Did you want to hire a tour guide or follow a local Indian? Your entire journey – and sometimes your life – would hinge on the choices you made. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/05/17/why-do-more-people-choose-abortion-over-adoption/

Your Boycott Could Cost Abortion Industry Hundreds, Maybe Thousands
As the proliferation of companies and organization that support abortion and fetal cell research has increased, my spending habits have changed intensely. So important is it to me to not actively and deliberately fund abortion that I have found new eating habits and diligently searched for new favorite jeans. My hotel selections have changed, and so have my airlines—and my heart. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/05/17/your-boycott-could-cost-abortion-industry-hundreds-maybe-thousands/

Why Did We Ever Start Calling Patients "Vegetables?"
The term "vegetative state" became popular at the "birth" of bioethics (1978 Belmont Report). It is traced to the "delayed personhood" arguments used at the beginning of life issues: first the vegetative soul is present, then later the sensitive soul is added, and finally (about 3-4 months) the rational soul is added. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/05/17/why-did-we-ever-start-calling-patients-vegetables/

Wisconsin: Pro-Life Video Slams Tom Barrett's Pro-Abortion Record
In the battle between pro-life Gov. Scott Walker and pro-abortion recall election challenge Tom Barrett, pro-life voters have a clear decision. With a new video and election information website it unveiled today, Wisconsin Right to Life is driving home those major differences between the governor and his Democratic rival on abortion. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/05/17/wisconsin-pro-life-video-slams-tom-barretts-pro-abortion-record/

South Carolina OKs Bill to Stop Abortion-Infanticides
One day after a legislative panel approved a measure to stop abortion funding in its statewide Obamacare health care exchange, pro-life legislators in the state House approved a bill helping to stop abortion-infanticides. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/05/17/south-carolina-oks-bill-to-stop-abortion-infanticides/
