An exemplary math and computer science teacher has been unjustly escorted out of Benson High School by police following a protracted battle with school officials about Planned Parenthood's presence in the school and its association with his students. Bill Diss was notified on Tuesday after the last student left his class that he was being placed immediately on administrative leave "pending a recommendation to the superintendent that you be dismissed from your employment with Portland public schools for reasons that have been discussed with you." The mild-mannered Mr. Diss told STOPP that he was given only a few minutes to gather his belongings before police escorted him out. He was ordered not to return to the Portland, Oregon, school where he has taught for 11 years.

Planned Parenthood building new abortion clinic in New Orleans
Life News
It may soon become much easier to get an abortion in the Big Easy, as the nation's largest abortion clinic chain is planning to build a massive new regional abortion facility in New Orleans. "New Orleans is a vibrant city full of great culture and heritage, and sadly, the city with the highest violent crime rate in the U.S. New Orleans is a city in need of peace," says Louisiana Right to Life in an email alert to its members. "Now, the struggle for peace has taken another turn. Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast plans to build now and open in 2014 a 7,000 square foot complex on Claiborne Avenue."

Abortion linked to metabolic syndrome, increasing risk of heart disease and stroke in women
Elliott Institute
A new study has found that women with a history of induced abortion were more likely to experience metabolic syndrome compared to women who had never had abortions, increasing their risk for cardiovascular disease, diabetes and stroke. Women who had a history of induced abortion were 1.25 times more likely to have metabolic syndrome compared to women who had never had abortions. No significant association was found between women who had a history of spontaneous abortion, or miscarriage, and increased risk of metabolic syndrome. The study, carried out in China, looked at 6,302 women aged 40 or over who answered questionnaires about their lifestyles and medical and reproductive histories, and underwent medical tests.

Get out your stripey socks...and celebrate World Down Syndrome Day!
LifeSiteNews
21 March 2013. It's World Down Syndrome Day, for just the second time, since the date was established by the United Nations last year. A day to mark and celebrate the life of people with a syndrome called "Down" after the British doctor who described the condition in 1866. Some say it's a shame his name was Down, and maybe it should be called "Up Syndrome". When my sister Rita, who has DS, was a baby, our family home was full of music and laughter, and most families will attest to the affection and joy these children bring to their parents and brothers and sisters. In the United States, the newsletter of the Down Syndrome Association is called "Upbeat" and its slogan reads "We are more alike than different." Written by and for people with DS, the editor is Chris Burke who is also a TV actor. He says, "It's not our disabilities that count, but our abilities."
