CMMB: Your Weekly Reflection in Prayer 3/24/2013

Your Weekly Prayer Reflection During Holy Times

“Christ became obedient for us even to death, dying on the cross. Therefore God raised Him on high and gave Him a name above all other names.”

Philippians 2:8-9

Palm Sunday
Dear Friends
St. Rose of Lima, saint of the Americas, once wrote, “Apart from the cross there is no other ladder by which we may get to heaven.” Surely it is a ladder or road we would like to avoid, yet in this world which is a mixture of sin and grace, it is the only way. It is no surprise that the celebration of the Way or Stations of the Cross is so well attended. With our daily lives so often close to the cross, we find hope, strength and consolation in the cross, or better, we might say, in the Crucified and Risen Lord Jesus Christ.
The challenge is to accept the crosses that we may face, and to reach out and try to ease the pain of those who have the cross of suffering and sickness imposed upon them.

Almighty and ever living God, in Your tender love for the human race You sent Your Son our Savior Jesus Christ to take upon Himself our nature and to suffer death on the cross, giving us the example of His great humility; mercifully grant that we may walk in the way of His suffering and also share in His resurrection. We make this prayer through Christ our Risen Lord.
Amen
