Pro-Abortion Activist Gets Prison, Sent Pro-Lifers Death Threats
A pro-abortion activist who sent death threats to a number of pro-life leaders pleaded guilty in Manhattan Federal Court Thursday to posting online death threats against at least two pro-life leaders.

Theodore Shulman, 51, could be headed to prison for at least 51 months for threatening pro-life Princeton University professor Robert George and Father Frank Pavone, the national director of Priests for Life. He was arrested in February 2011 and has been held without bail ever since.

The threats against the pro-life advocates, made on the web site of a conservative magazine, said Pavone and George would be killed if the killer of late-term abortion practitioner George Tiller was acquitted. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/05/11/pro-abortion-activist-gets-prison-sent-pro-lifers-death-threats/

Bella Santorum Celebrates Her Fourth Birthday Sunday
Little Bella Santorum celebrates her fourth birthday on Sunday. After being hospitalized while her father Rick Santorum was on the presidential campaign trail, pro-life supporters nationwide prayed for her speedy recovery and she came through back to health.

Today, Rick Santorum sent a special message to his former campaign supporters about his daughter and her birthday:

Nearly four years ago, on May 13, 2008, Karen and I welcomed our youngest daughter, Isabella, into our family. As with the birth of any child, it was a joyous time, but was also not without its share of heartache as we learned more about Bella s condition Trisomy 18 and the impact it would have on her and on our family for the rest of her life. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/05/11/bella-santorum-celebrates-her-fourth-birthday-sunday/

Obama Admin s Catholic Treatment: Coercion in the Name of Freedom
The Freedom From Religion Foundation has placed a full-page ad in the Washington Post. It urges Catholics to quit the Catholic Church over its teachings on sex and procreation, asking: Will it be reproductive freedom, or back to the Dark Ages?

Noting Catholic opposition to the Obama Administration s mandate for covering contraception, sterilization and abortifacient drugs in most private health plans, the ad declares: The Church that hasn t persuaded you to shun contraception now wants to use the force of secular law to deny birth control to non-Catholics.

This is so topsy-turvy a description of what is going on that I guess the Post s advertising fact-checkers are out sick. But in case anyone is swayed by such charges, the facts may bear repeating. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/05/11/obama-admins-catholic-treatment-coercion-in-the-name-of-freedom/

Gillibrand: Honor Mother s Day by Funding Pro-Abortion Group
Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, a New York Democrat, has a great idea for you when it comes to honoring your other for Mother s Day. She thinks the best thing you can do is make a donation to one of the wealthiest pro-abortion groups in the country.

In an email she sent this afternoon, Gillibrand primes the ump for donations for Emily s List, a leading pro-abortion political action committee, using Mother s Day as he reason for supporting them.

This Mother s Day, I can t think of a better way to honor all the mothers in the country past and present than with a contribution to EMILY s List, Gillibrand writes. They re the ones working tirelessly to elect the pro-choice Democratic women who are making sure that our freedoms are protected for generations to come. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/05/10/naral-pro-abortion-prez-to-resign-for-younger-replacement/

Chen Guangcheng s Nephew Charged With Homicide, May Face Execution
The nephew of forced abortion opponent Chen Guangcheng has been formally arrested and charged with intentional homicide for his role in defending himself from guards and officials who stormed his home in the aftermath of Chen s escape from house arrest.

The crime, which carries the death sentence, is the latest in the international situation involving Chen, who is seeking the ability to go the United States to escape persecution in China after he exposed a massive campaign of forced abortions and sterilizations in his hometown of Linyi.

The formal arrest of Chen s nephew Chen Kegui took place on Wednesday, according to officials with ChinaAid, a human rights group that has been actively working with Chen and assisting him and his family and supporters. The formal arrest notification with the charge of intentional homicide was delivered to Chen Kegui s mother, Ren Zongju, yesterday. They were executed by the Yinan County People s Procuratorate and the Yinan Public Security Bureau. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/05/11/chen-guangchengs-nephew-charged-with-homicide-may-face-execution/

Michigan Mayor Calls Pro-Lifers Forces of Darkness
The mayor of Grand Rapids, Michigan was the keynote speaker at a fundraising event for the Planned Parenthood abortion business, where he defended taxpayer funding for the organization that does more than 25 percent of the abortions nationwide.

However, his defense of taxpayer funding for the abortion giant is not what is making waves today instead, a comment about pro-life advocates is upsetting pro-life people. In talking about funding the group, Grand Rapids Mayor George Heartwell used a derogatory term to refer to pro-life people. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/05/11/michigan-mayor-calls-pro-lifers-forces-of-darkness/

Congressional Bill Cuts Planned Parenthood Webcam Abortion Funding
A new bill introduced in Congress by a pro-life advocate from Iowa cuts off public funding to abortion clinics, like Planned Parenthood, that engage in the practice of telemed abortions.

Congressman Steve King, an Iowa Republican, introduced the Telemedicine Safety Act to respond to the new process by which Planned Parenthood is distributing the dangerous abortion drug RU 486 to women but denying them an in-person consultation with a physician beforehand, as the FDA suggests. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/05/11/congressional-bill-cuts-planned-parenthood-webcam-abortion-funding/

Women Need Comprehensive, Not Just Reproductive, Health Care
In the on-going debate over taxpayer funding of abortion businesses like Planned Parenthood, there is a notion that the only medical problems experienced by women concern their reproductive system. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/05/11/women-need-comprehensive-not-just-reproductive-health-care/

Study: Pro-Life Parental Involvement Laws on Abortion Cut Teen Suicides

The Iowa state legislature, before wrapping up its legislative session for the year, killed off an effort put forward by pro-life groups to cut off taxpayer funding for the Planned Parenthood abortion business. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/05/11/iowa-legislature-kills-bid-to-cut-planned-parenthood-funds/

Time to Stop Pressuring Chile to Legalize Abortion
Chile has suffered repeated pressure to liberalize its abortion policies at the hands of international bodies in the name of achieving international goals to reduce maternal mortality rates. A new study which came out of Chile this month highlighting a decreasing maternal mortality rate despite Chile s prohibition on abortion should serve as a defense against this pressure. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/05/11/time-to-stop-pressuring-chile-to-legalize-abortion/
