California Gov. Signs Bill Allowing Nurses to Do Abortions
California Governor Jerry Brown has signed into law legislation to allow nurses to do abortions. Dave Andrusko of National Right to Life has more:

Under AB 154 (authored by California Assembly member Toni Atkins), physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and nurse midwives will perform first-trimester aspiration abortions. (These non-physicians already are allowed to administer chemical abortifacients.) The rationale, as always, is that there is not enough “access” to abortion. The cover story is that first-trimester abortion is so safe practically anyone can perform one. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/10/11/california-gov-signs-bill-allowing-nurses-to-do-abortions/
British Woman Dies From Aggressive Infection After Using RU 486 Abortion Drug
A 31-year-old U.K. woman has died of an aggressive and rare infection after using mifepristone (Abortion Pill, RU-486) and misoprostol as reproductive healthcare providers and researchers continue to unravel the association of fatal infections linked to medical abortions. (1)

A case report published in the July 2013 issue of Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology confirms the discovery of the first known global death case of “Fatal Clostridium septicum following medical termination of pregnancy.” http://www.lifenews.com/2013/10/10/british-woman-dies-from-aggressive-infection-after-using-ru-486-abortion-drug/
The National Association of Pro-life Nurses announces its 2013-2014 scholarship for nursing students! Any pro-life nursing student currently enrolled in a nursing program is eligible to apply. For further details, go to nursesforlife.org “Take my hand, not my life.”
Church Attendance a Big Reason Why a Majority of Americans Pro-Life on Abortion
In August, the Pew Research Foundation released survey results which focused on the morality of abortion, and indicate that just about half of the population (49%) views abortion as flat-out immoral. But that does NOT mean that the remaining 51% view having an abortion as a morally acceptable choice.

In fact, only 15% of Americans consider having an abortion morally acceptable, according to the survey, while 23% hold that it is not a moral issue.http://www.lifenews.com/2013/10/10/church-attendance-a-big-reason-why-a-majority-of-americans-pro-life-on-abortion/
Retired Abortion Doc: Pro-Life Movement and Abortion Stigma are Stronger Than Ever
On September 29, Live Action writer Cassy Fiano talked about an article in which late-term abortionist Susan Robinson said that abortion providers deal with a lot of stigma from other doctors.

Robinson is not the only abortionist who has discussed the stigma that abortionists face. The pro-abortion website Jezebel also addressed the issue in an interview with retired abortionist Dr. Robert Livingston. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/10/10/retired-abortion-doc-pro-life-movement-and-abortion-stigma-are-stronger-than-ever/

Research Shows Unborn Baby Can Anticipate Her Own Movements in the Womb
Using remarkable technology to eavesdrop on the unborn child, it seems as if every day in every way we find that he or she is a remarkable human being. One study builds on another on another, and so forth, showing ever-greater complexity.

Using 4-dimensional ultrasound, a few months ago researchers from Durham and Lancaster Universities published a study of 15 healthy unborn babies that showed how the child’s facial expressions develop and become more complex as the baby grows. On the scans you can see recognizable facial expressions including what can only be described as a smile, followed by even more complex multi-dimensional expressions. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/10/10/research-shows-unborn-baby-can-anticipate-her-own-movements-in-the-womb/
Pro-Life Activist Changes the World One Person at a Time
If you’ve ever wondered if you can make a difference in the pro-life movement, this is for you!
Working with the student and community distributors for The Advocate, Live Action‘s student publication, I have the privilege of seeing all sorts of stories come through my inbox.

How You Can Reach Out to Abortion Vulnerable Women Online
A reader asked me for some tips for reaching out to pregnant, abortion vulnerable women in internet forums, and she gave me permission to share with you my response.
Here’s an edited version of the question that was sent to me. (All names have been changed to protect their privacy.)
Planned Parenthood Abortion Biz Makes Money Claiming Women are Weak, Unintelligent
It’s one of the go-to battle cries for so-called feminists like Cecile Richards, president of abortion giant Planned Parenthood, and for some bizarre reason, women everywhere echo it. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/10/10/planned-parenthood-abortion-biz-makes-money-claiming-women-are-weak-unintelligent/

Adult (Fetal) Stem Cell Trial for Spinal Cord Injury Presents New Ethical Questions
Neural stem cells from fetuses have received permission for human trials. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/10/10/adult-fetal-stem-cell-trial-for-spinal-cord-injury-presents-new-ethical-questions/

Should ER Docs Not Save All Suicide Patients?
This is what we are becoming. Five years ago in the UK, Kerry Wooltorton swallowed anti-freeze, called an ambulance, and then pinned a note to her shirt saying not to save her life. Accordingly, doctors let her die slowly over 24 hours–a decision later validated by the coroner’s inquest. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/10/10/should-er-docs-not-save-all-suicide-patients/

Beautiful Bronze Sculptures Depict Unborn Baby’s “Miraculous Journey” to Birth
Yesterday a friend of mine sent me a link to a set of photos on the New York Times webpage. The first of 7 photos showed a set of giant white balloons. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/10/10/beautiful-bronze-sculptures-depict-unborn-babys-miraculous-journey-to-birth/
The Economic Drain of Taxpayer-Funded Abortions in Canada
Canada’s provincial and federal governments keep the cost of taxpayer funded abortion secret. The government of British Columbia is even fighting in court to prevent citizens from gaining access to provincial data concerning the number of abortions committed in BC. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/10/05/the-economic-drain-of-taxpayer-funded-abortions-in-canada/
Why Do Women Have Abortions? New Study Provides Some Answers
The reasons women have abortions are not simple and thus can be difficult to study and/or categorize. That’s one reason why the two most recent previous studies on abortion reasons, from the Guttmacher Institute, date from 2005 and 1988. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/10/10/why-do-women-have-abortions-new-study-provides-some-answers/
Irish Times Accused of Rush to Judgment in Linking Savita Death to Abortion
The Pro Life Campaign has accused The Irish Times of a rush to judgment for linking the tragic death of Savita Halappanavar to Ireland’s abortion laws before the full facts of the case had emerged. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/10/10/irish-times-accused-of-rush-to-judgment-in-linking-savita-death-to-abortion/
Judge Allows Lawsuit Against Virginia Law That Could Close Abortion Clinics
This process only seems interminable. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/10/10/judge-allows-lawsuit-against-virginia-law-that-could-close-abortion-clinics/
New Jersey Battle Has Pro-Life Steve Lonegan Against Pro-Abortion Cory Booker
Pro-life former Bogota Mayor Steve Lonegan (R) will face pro-abortion Newark Mayor Cory Booker (D) in a special general election on October 16. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/10/10/new-jersey-battle-has-pro-life-steve-lonegan-against-pro-abortion-cory-booker/
European Parliament “Condemns” Gendercide, Sex-Selection Abortions
The European Parliament approved a report–Gendercide: the missing women?–that condemns practices that destroy the lives of women and girls, including sex selection abortion and infanticide. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/10/10/european-parliament-condemns-gendercide-sex-selection-abortions/
