Romney Campaign Begins VP Search, Pro-Lifers Top List
The Mitt Romney campaign announced today that it has tapped longtime adviser Beth Myers to head up selection and vetting and analysis of potential vice-presidential running mates for the presumptive nominee.
I have selected someone who has been a counselor of mine for a number of years, Beth Myers. She was my chief of staff when I was governor, Romney said during an interview with Diane Sawyer of ABC News.
I ve asked her to be the person who oversees the process of the vice presidential selection and vetting an analysis and so she s begun that process and is putting together the kinds of things you need to do to vet potential candidates, he said. Romney said he does not have a deadline by which he will select someone. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/16/romney-campaign-begins-vp-search-pro-lifers-top-list/
Mississippi Gov. Signs Bill That Could Make it Abortion Free
The governor of Mississippi has signed a bill that would make the state the first in the nation to be without an active abortion business if the only one in the state can t comply with the sensible new law he signed.
Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant on Monday signed a bill putting new requirements on the books for abortion practitioners who operate in the state. They would have to be certified in the state as an obstetrician-gynecologist with admitting privileges at a local hospital in case a botched abortion requires a woman to be immediately hospitalized.
This legislation is an important step in strengthening abortion regulations and protecting the health and safety of women, Bryant said in a statement. As governor, I will continue to work to make Mississippi abortion-free. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/16/mississippi-gov-signs-bill-that-could-make-it-abortion-free/
Komen Causing Breast Cancer by Funding Planned Parenthood
The head of a women s group that examines the link between abortion and breast cancer says Komen for the Cure is going against its own mission of stopping breast cancer by renewing funding for the Planned Parenthood abortion business.
As LifeNews reported, Komen for the Cure has officially buckled to pressure from Planned Parenthood and 17 affiliates of the national breast cancer charity will provide grants for the abortion business this calendar year.
Karen Malec, president of the Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer says Komen, which attempted earlier this year to withdraw from its long-standing relationship with Planned Parenthood but recently renewed it, is causing women to contract breast cancer by funding the abortion agency. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/16/komen-causing-breast-cancer-by-funding-planned-parenthood/
Texas Fully Funds Women s Health Program Without Planned Parenthood
Abortion advocates complained the state of Texas would leave women high and dry without access to a women s health program now that the state has decided to revoke taxpayer funding for the Planned Parenthood abortion business.
Despite prohibiting it from participating in the legitimate medical program, Texas officials have found a way to fully fund the program to provide women with non-abortion reproductive health care at hundreds of other locations across the state. Billy Milwee, the state s Medicaid director, discussed the funding in a recent town hall, according to KERA-News. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/16/texas-fully-funds-womens-health-program-without-planned-parenthood/
Romney Leads Obama 47-45 in First Gallup 2012 Poll
In the first Gallup poll taken comparing the two candidates expected to face off in the 2012 presidential election, 47 percent of Americans support former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney while 45 percent back pro-abortion President Barack Obama.
Gallup Daily tracking results from April 11-15 show 90 percent of Republicans favor Romney while 90 percent of Democrats back Obama. When it comes to the crucial group of independents who traditionally decide presidential elections, Romney leads 45-39 percent. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/16/romney-leads-obama-47-45-in-first-gallup-2012-poll/
Dr. Phil Show: Mercy Kill People with Disabilities
This week on the popular Dr. Phil Show, a mother named Annette Corriveau was featured. She s special because she wants the right to be able to kill her children.
That s right. She is the mother of two severely disabled adult children, and she feels that the moral thing to do would be to kill them by lethal injection, to end their suffering. Her children were diagnosed with Sanfilippo syndrome, causing them to lose motor function and be institutionalized. They cannot speak, and they have to be fed through feeding tubes. Any more information on their condition wasn t made clear probably because, as Annette admitted, she visits her children only once every two months. The people who actually work with her children every day, and see them on a regular basis, and could therefore give a better idea of what their lives are like, were not interviewed for the show. We had only Annette s point of view, which is that according to her if her children could choose, they would choose suicide. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/16/dr-phil-show-mercy-kill-people-with-disabilities/
Miracle Baby Survives in Romania Despite No Intestine
A miracle baby has survived for eight months despite the fact that he has no intestine. The story provides parents hope about the resiliency of new born to survive long odds that doctors may suggest are too difficult to overcome and should be dealt with via an abortion.
As the news report indicates:
Baby Andrei has proven to be a miracle baby by staying alive without an intestine for all these months. Andrei was born eight months ago and at that time doctors said that he would not live for more than a few hours. However, he proved them all wrong, since it has been eight months since he was born and is still alive. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/16/miracle-baby-survives-in-romania-despite-no-intestine/
Pro-Infanticide Peter Singer Lectures at Catholic College
Georgetown University is under fire for allowing Peter Singer, the pro-infanticide professor, lecture on campus this past weekend. The decision is drawing outrage from a prolife Catholic education watchdog, the Cardinal Newman Society. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/16/pro-infanticide-peter-singer-lectures-at-catholic-college/

Sarah Silverman Causes Uproar With Quickie Abortion Post
Despite the fact that sarcasm takes little genius, it s often hailed as a pinnacle of humor. But unlike satire, which displays genuine wit, plain old sarcasm is more a display of anger. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/16/sarah-silverman-causes-uproar-with-quickie-abortion-post/

Study: Genetic Testing Not Good at Predicting Diseases
If you have been reading this blog for any length of time you know that I despise genetic determinism. What exactly is genetic determinism? It is the unfortunate belief that we are no more than what is coded in our genes and that we can be evaluated as individuals accordingly. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/16/study-genetic-testing-not-good-at-predicting-diseases/
