Dr.
Maria Provost is one of those special people who volunteers with
Catholic
Medical Mission Board. Since January, she has been very busy as the
surgeon at Mutomo Mission Hospital in one of the poorest areas of Kenya.
In fact, she got involved with helping her new community within hours
of arriving. Maria shared with us the joy of experiencing what she
describes as her “miracle” patient. Her story will inspire you to help support our work:
“I
got thrown into the deep end with an emergency case...a young woman
delivered a little boy at a ‘nursing home.’ She came in at 2 a.m.;
bleeding, unresponsive and cold. After giving her fluids and blood,
everyone was ordered to start praying... and she held on to life.
Yesterday I went to see her and found her sitting up in bed with her new
son, Joshua.
We had so little to give her; in the US things would have been SO
different. I don’t know how she survived, but miracles do happen!”
By
sending skilled volunteers like Maria – and shipments of medicine –
around the world, we are making a difference in the lives of people who
are suffering. Working together, we can make miracles happen! Please
make a generous gift today to help us continue sending volunteers and
life-saving medicine to countries where they will do the most good. Sincerely,
Bruce Wilkinson
