Acts of the Apostles 1:8
May 12, 2013 Mother’s Day
Dear Friends,
Last
week we reflected on how the farmer, indeed all of us, must cooperate
with the Holy Spirit in carrying on the work of building the Kingdom of
God. As we celebrate Mother’s Day, and the feast of the Ascension, we
recall how mothers cooperate with the Spirit and power of God in
bringing life to the world. God entrusts women with the responsibility
not only to bring life into the world, but to nurture, guide and care
for that precious life.
The feast of the Ascension, when Jesus returns to the right hand of the
Father, does not mean that Jesus is no longer with us. Rather it means
that He entrusts His work to us, that He trusts us to carry on His work.
Can anyone be more important than mothers in carrying on the
creative, caring, loving work of God in our world?
Happy Mother’s Day!

Loving
God, give all mothers the grace to appreciate the dignity You have
conferred on them. Let them realize that not even the angels have been
blessed with such a privilege to share in Your creative miracle and
bring new saints to heaven.
May all mothers follow the example of Mary, the Mother of Your Son.
May Your blessings come down upon them, so they will be dedicated to
Your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of Your kingdom
in heaven. Amen
