Gosnell Case Moves to Penalty Phase
May 14, 2013
By Cheryl Sullenger
Philadelphia, PA - Now that illegal late-term abortionist Kermit
Gosnell has been convicted of three counts of First Degree Murder, one
count of Involuntary Manslaughter, and a host of other charges related
to his "House of Horrors" abortion operation, the case now moves into
the penalty phase.
The jury is set to hear
arguments beginning on May 21 about the kind of punishment that is
appropriate for a convicted serial killer. His convictions qualify him
for the death penalty.
"The conviction was
everything we could have hoped for," said Troy Newman, President of
Operation Rescue. "Gosnell will spend the rest of his life behind bars
and will never be able to inflict harm on another human being. We are
completely satisfied that justice was done."
At the age of 72, Gosnell
will likely spend the rest of his days behind bars whether the death
penalty is invoked or not due to the massive number of serious
convictions that accompanied the murder verdicts that could - on paper -
merit him hundreds of years behind bars.
