Lifeissues.net: clear thinking about crucial issues
Dear Friends for Life,
What is the Church's judgment on surrogate motherhood and artificial fertilization?

All assistance in conceiving a child through research and medicine must stop when the common bond of parenthood is loosened and destroyed by the intrusion of a third person or when conception becomes a technological act outside of sexual union in marriage.

Out of respect for human dignity, the Church cannot approve of the technologically assisted conception of a child through artificial insemination or fertilization. Every child has in God's plan the right to have a father and a mother, to know his parents, and if at all possible to grow up surrounded by their love. Artificial insemination and fertilization with the sperm of another man or the ovum of another woman (heterologous artificial insemination and fertilization) also destroys the spirit of marriage, in which husband and wife have the right to become a father or a mother only through the other spouse. But even homologous artificial insemination and fertilization (in which the sperm and the ovum come from the spouses) make a child the product of a technological procedure and does not allow it to originate from the loving union of a personal sexual encounter. If the child becomes a product, however, then that leads immediately to cynical questions about product quality and product liability. The Church also rejects pre-implantation diagnosis, which is carried out for the purpose of killing imperfect embryos. Surrogate motherhood, too, in which an artificially conceived embryo is implanted into another woman, is contrary to human dignity. -CCC section (2376-2379)

God Bless,

(The Difference is LIFE) "Jesus is the summary of our faith. He showed in his words -- which were very simple -- in his preaching and his life he told us what God is. He told us God is mercy and compassion. We don't need to complicate that, we don't need thick books of theology to prove that; we need a heart, a heart that can reach in the line of the compassion of God."The secret of secrets" in Christianity is love, "love of God that turns into love of neighbor, It's not whom we love, but whether we love or not, that's the question." - Father Adolfo Nicolas S. J., Superior General of the Jesuits to World Youth Day pilgrims.

(Life): "Family of Boy Born Without Eyes Rejects Abortion, Overcomes Pro-Abortion Hate"The video is a no-holds-barred recounting of a couple that had no experience raising a child, let alone one who was almost entirely blind. With music by recording artists Fernando Ortega and Chris Tomlin playing gently in the background, the viewer is captivated not only by this Christian couple's courageous story but by the range of emotions that play out on Lacey's face.

ITEM #1: 'I am still not getting what I want': Gay couple suing church for refusing 'wedding'

Less than two weeks after the coalition government's gay "marriage" bill was signed into law, a homosexual man has launched a lawsuit against a Church of England parish in Maldon for refusing him and his civil partner the lavish church wedding of their dreams. Barrie Drewitt-Barlow told the Essex Chronicle that he has launched the suit because, despite the law, "I am still not getting what I want."

ITEM #2:
Pedophile support group seeks 'truth and dignity' - Want same rights as homosexuals

Who could've seen this coming? Well, those of us who can see the "logical" end results of the radical homosexual movement, that's who. With homosexual activists on the march throughout our government, military, schools and society in general, many of us have warned that their push for special "rights" would - besides trample on the freedoms of speech, religion and association of those who oppose them - inevitably lead to demands by other sexual deviants, like pedophiles, for their own societal affirmation.
****************************************

ITEM #3:  Counterfeit Catholics

Catholics for Choice (CFC) and Catholic Relief Services (CRS) share a cruel tactic in common: Both organizations thrive on distorting what the Catholic Church teaches in order to pursue less than laudable goals.

****************************************

ITEM #4: Aborting justice

Recently a comment was made to me that when a pro-life law is passed by a state legislature, it can be a hopeless victory. The reason is that, within days or weeks, the forces of death will orchestrate an action from a court at some level that will render the new law null and void.

ITEM #5: Women's Medical Group Bans Pro-Life Physicians From Giving Presentations

Comment: As a nurse, I know my job is "at will" - the will of the employer. I know I can be fired for any or no reason at all. However, I feel a moral imperative to write about prolife issues in secular as well a prolife or religious venues even if it costs me my job. I am outraged at the blatent censorship and intimidation of health care providers who speak out supporting traditional ethics-which is what the prolife view really is 11 years ago, I wrote an article "Are Pro-Life Health Care Providers Becoming an Endangered Species?" (online at: http://www.wf-f.org./03-2-Healthcare.html). As this article shows, the situation of prolife health care providers is becoming even more dire. It is crucial that good prolife health care providers are supported and defended. -Nancy Valko, RN.

ITEM #6: Exposing the Abortion Truth to the World - the Holy Spirit at Work
However, our presentations were cancelled at the last minute. This was not a total shock to us, because many physicians and scientists have long been hampered in attempts to inform the scientific community and patient about risks of abortion. Very important information has been suppressed and even lied about.

ITEM #7 Father of Singapore's population control policy says today's 1.2 birthrate is not his fault
Founding prime minister Lee Kuan Yew, considered the founding of Singapore has addressed the city-state's troublingly low birth rate in his new memoir, dismissing as "absurd" the idea that his government's 1970's effort to reduce the number of pregnancies with the "Stop at Two" campaign led to today's demographic crisis, in which birth rates are at only about half replacement level.
****************************************

ITEM #8: It's okay to be pro-life without exception!

While I have only recently been able to admit, and proudly, that I am pro-life without exception, I think in my heart I have always felt this way. The pro-life position was an automatic position to me and so when I first had a conversation about abortion when I was 12 with my grandfather, also pro-life, and then a debate with friends who did not feel the same way, I really spoke from the heart.
****************************************

ITEM #9: Down with (the word) abortion!

Many pro-aborts strain to avoid the word "abortion" like the plague, substituting in euphemisms like "choice," "women's health," "reproductive freedom," "bodily autonomy," "family planning," etc. When your PR efforts operate on the premise that you shouldn't use your product's name, it might be time to rethink what you're selling.

****************************************

ITEM #10: Bioethicists Promote The Business Of Medicine, Not The Ethics Of Medicine

"A bioethicist is to ethics what a whore is to sex." -Richard J Neuhaus.
****************************************
ITEM #11: Abortion Drug RU 486 Has Killed Two Million Unborn Children in the U.S.
The dangerous RU 486 abortion drug has nearly claimed the lives of two million unborn children in the United States since its approval at the end of the Clinton administration.
****************************************
ITEM #12: A Just Response to Cohabitation
Those who cohabitate suffer more depression, are more often victims of domestic violence, and report a poorer quality of relationship than do their married counterparts. Marriages that are preceded by cohabitation are more likely to end in divorce. That is why I am always saddened to see the adult children of family and friends casually move in with a boyfriend or girlfriend with little regard for the damage they are doing to marriage in general and to their future marriages in particular.
