Lifeissues.net: clear thinking about crucial issues

Dear Friends for Life,
When will our attack on children stop. For the survival of the human race, we need children. For our working force to support the ageing population, we need children. For our personal and spiritual growth, we need children. Through abortions, IVF and euthanasia, we are destroying our future. World, wake up! Look at the statistics. In many countries like Japan, Korea, France, etc., they no longer have a future because they can no longer replace their population. A national average of 2.1 births per family are necessary to replace a country's population. Do the math. Check your country. Does it have a future? Or is it dying prematurely like the children are. It's really a scary predicament adults are creating for our future survival as a human race. What happened to our compassion and love for innocent children. Man is aiming to replace God but leaving only human destruction in its place. Read the latest article by Michael Cook: Belgium take first step towards euthanasia for children.

A bill to legalise euthanasia in Belgium for children and for patients with dementia passed its first legislative hurdle this week. A Senate committee voted 13-4 to approve a first draft.

Dr Kenneth Chambarae, of Brussels' Free University, told CNN that the privilege of euthanasia would only be extended to competent minors who are suffering unbearable physical pain from a serious physical illness without prospect of improvement...

Dr Chambarae says that the debate is fundamentally about creating an equal playing field for euthanasia...

In neighbouring Netherlands euthanasia for children as young as 12 is already permitted...

God Bless,
Jerry Novotny, OMI

(The Difference is LIFE) - "Today is the World Day for the fight against HIV/AIDS. Let us express our nearness to persons who are affected, especially children; a nearness that is very concrete for the silent work of many missionaries and workers. Let us pray for everyone, for doctors and for researchers. May every sick person, without exception, find the cure that he needs." - Pope Francis.

ITEM #1: Debunking the Myth of Overpopulation

We are contacted all the time by people asking for how they can refute the arguments of those who believe that the world is overpopulated. So we have decided to create a short primer called "How to Debunk the Myth of Overpopulation in Three Easy Steps."

****************************************

ITEM #2:
One Small Snip for Man, One Giant Snip for Mankind

For most of the world, today is Friday, a happy day that leads into the weekend. For Paul Ehrlich and Dr. Doug Stein, however, today is World Vasectomy Day!

****************************************

ITEM #3: Call it Human Trafficking or Human Junking - The Result Is the Same

Not only are some people content with stealing the lives of preborn babies for their own selfish ways, but now there is a growing trend of stealing children's organs so that others may buy them. This sick practice shows just how depraved society can be when it comes to our fellow human beings.

****************************************

ITEM #4: Population Aging in China: A Mixed Blessing
China is rapidly getting older. Three decades ago, only 5 percent of the population was over 65; today, 123 million people, or 9 percent of the population, are over this age. A report released by a government think tank forecasts that China will become the world's most aged society in 2030. Further, by 2050 China's older population will likely swell to 330 million, or a quarter of its total population.

****************************************

ITEM #5: Human Sex Trafficking Of US Minors (Part 1)

A percentage is represented in all 162 countries, with almost half being in India. And many would be surprised to discover that the U.S. sexual slavery market is growing -- in and outside our country -- using none other than American minors. Americans trafficking Americans.

How Do US Minors Become Sex Slaves? (Part 2)

Porn's Part In Sex Trafficking (Part 3)

****************************************
ITEM #6: Pope Francis: Modern-Day Slavery Abolitionist
The poor in the developing world are especially vulnerable, accepting offers of jobs and a better life from unscrupulous criminals, only to find themselves far from home and caught up in a nightmare of sex slavery, drugs, and crime. Parents are known to sell children into slavery, and when the victims complain or try to expose their masters, their family members at home are threatened with violence.

****************************************
ITEM #7 "Death Panels" Are Euthanizing Patients Every Day as Doctors Make Treatment Decisions
Patients and family members are now seeing health care professionals empowered to make life and death decisions - quality of life assessments - when a person should or should not receive treatment regardless of what the patient wants or what the family wants.

****************************************
ITEM #8: Hemlock Society Founder Pushes for Euthanasia of Mentally Ill People
Comment: Being a nurse who cares for people attempting suicide and having had several relatives with mental health and/or substance abuse issues including a daughter who read Humphrey's book "Final Exit" before she died by suicide, I am outraged by this lethal and discriminatory minds. Unfortunately, so far most of the mental health and suicide prevention organizations have yet to take a stand against assisted suicide for this group of vulnerable people. That's also outrageous. -Nancy Valko, RN.

ITEM #9: Pornography's Effects on Adults and Children
This article outlines documented effects of pornography, including but not limited to the following categories: addiction, escalation, desensitization, acting out sexually, pornography's impact on psychosexual development, etc.
****************************************

ITEM #10: The Effects of Pornography on Individuals, Marriage, Family and Community
Pornography is a visual representation of sexuality which distorts an individual's concept of the nature of conjugal relations. This, in turn, alters both sexual attitudes and behavior. It is a major threat to marriage, to family, to children and to individual happiness. In undermining marriage it is one of the factors in undermining social stability. Social scientists, clinical psychologists, and biologists have begun to clarify some of the social and psychological effects, and neurologists are beginning to delineate the biological mechanisms through which pornography produces its powerful negative effects.

****************************************
ITEM #11: Compulsive and Addictive Sexual Disorders and the Family
In the treatment of sexual addiction and compulsivity, the family unit is often neglected. Yet this disorder has a major impact not only on the identified patient, but also on the spouse or partner (the coaddict) and on the family as a whole.

ITEM #12: The Impact of Pornography on Marital Relationships
Based on the on-going researches, the following topics seem to be the most prominent in regards to the internet pornography consumption and marital relationship: (1) online sexual pursuits as a predictor of marital distress, separation, and divorce; (2) decreased sexual satisfaction; (3) decreased sexual intimacy; (4) infidelity; (5) other issues such as overspending and debt, and decreased job security.
