Rick Santorum Suspends Republican Presidential Campaign
Rick Santorum, one of the pro-life Republican presidential candidates, will be announcing today that he is suspending his campaign for the GOP nomination to face pro-abortion President Barack Obama this November.

Santorum has planned to make Pennsylvania the last stand of his campaign but polling in the home state of the former U.S. Senator showed him trailing Mitt Romney, the former Massachusetts governor who most political observers believe will become the nominee. Instead, Santorum called Romney today to concede the race to him and offered to help him as the campaign to defeat Obama moves ahead.

Santorum said in a press conference that he is ending the campaign to allow the American dream to move forward and he spoke passionately about the families with disabled children who could relate to his own family.

We were winning in a different way because we were touching hearts and raising issues that others didn t want to raise, he said. Miracle after miracle, this race was as improbable as any race that you will ever see for president. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/10/rick-santorum-suspends-republican-presidential-campaign/

Catholic Cardinal: A Sin to Cooperate With Obama Mandate
A leading Catholic cardinal at the Vatican has essentially said that complying the with Obama birth control mandate would have Catholics and Catholic organizations participating in sin.

The mandate compels religious employers to pay for birth control and drugs that may cause abortions in health coverage for their employees and a revised mandate will compel them to refer employees for free coverage from their health insurance plans, which will eventually have the payment mandate.

In an upcoming episode of Catholic Action Insight hosted by Thomas McKenna to air on EWTN on Wednesday, Cardinal Raymond Burke speaks out for the first time on the controversial mandate. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/10/catholic-cardinal-a-sin-to-cooperate-with-obama-mandate/

Planned Parenthood Sets Up 40 Days of Prayer for Abortion
A local Planned Parenthood abortion business in California is copycatting the 40 Days for Life campaign, which recently resulted in saving the lives of more than 700 unborn children from abortion. The abortion business has set up its own 40 Days of Prayer for the local abortion center.

We trust you to decide about your sexuality, having your children, and planning your family, says a flier promoting the Humbolt County Clergy for Choice event. We are religious leaders who value all human life. We accept that religions differ about when life begins. We are here to help.

We believe that human life is holy. That s why we believe in your right to choose to be a parent or not, the pro-abortion religious leaders continue. It can be helpful to talk with friends you trust, with licensed counselors, and with whatever religious person you choose. Humboldt County Clergy are available to talk with you about the spiritual aspects of choice. Santorum Praised for Raising Pro-Life Issues in Campaign
Following Rick Santorum s decision today to suspend his campaign for the Republican nomination to face pro-abortion President Barack Obama in November, pro-life groups are hailing the former Pennsylvania senator for raising pro-life issues in the campaign.

Although the other Republican candidates are pro-life, they say Santorum did the most to raise the pro-life standard and talk about abortion and life issues on the campaign trail. In particular, Santorum raised the gruesome specter of abortions on children with disabilities who are targeted 90 percent of the time in abortions when their disability is detected before birth.

Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of SBA List, which endorsed Santorum and actively campaigned for him across the nation, told LifeNews, With great vision and passion, Rick Santorum reached the hearts of pro-life voters and allowed them to show the strength of their voting bloc. The Susan B. Anthony List is proud to have mobilized those key voters. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/10/santorum-praised-for-raising-pro-life-issues-in-campaign/

Man Jailed for Impregnating 12-Year-Old, Forcing Abortion
Kenneth Lamb, a 28-year old man from Wilder, Idaho, will spend at least 15 years behind bars for impregnating a 12-year old girl, forcing her to have an abortion and for conspiring to escape from prison.

Lamb could spend as many as 30 years in jail on the felony convictions for lewd conduct with a minor child and conspiracy to escape from the jail. Court records indicate he pleaded guilty back in January. Lamb confessed to his crimes, officials said, calling himself a child molester. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/10/man-jailed-for-impregnating-12-year-old-forcing-abortion/

CDC Report Shows Teen Birth Rate Reaching Historic Lows
A new report from the Centers for Disease Control shows the U.S. teen birth rate declined 9 percent from 2009 to 2010, reaching a historic low at 34.3 births per 1,000 women aged 15 19.

During the time period from 1991 through 2010, when abstinence education programs reached their zenith thanks in part to federal funding, the rate dropped 44 percent from 1991 through 2010. Teen birth rates by age and race and Hispanic origin were lower in 2010 than ever reported in the United States.

Fewer babies were born to teenagers in 2010 than in any year since 1946. If the teen birth rates observed in 1991 had not declined through 2010 as they did, there would have been an estimated 3.4 million additional births to teens during 1992 2010, the report noted. Teen birth rates fell in all but three states during 2007 2010. Teen birth rates by state vary significantly, reflecting in part differences in the population composition of states by race and Hispanic origin. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/10/cdc-report-shows-teen-birth-rate-reaching-historic-lows/

Nikki Haley Slams Media: Women Not Just Interested in Contraception
Appearing on NBC s Sunday web-based feature Press Pass, South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley tore apart the media obsession with the contraception debate: The media thinks that women only care about contraception, that s not true. They care about contraception, and education, and health care, and jobs, and the economy.

Haley leveled the criticism after Meet the Press host David Gregory grilled her on the gender gap in Republican support being an obstacle to Mitt Romney defeating President Obama in November. Haley took Gregory to task for the question: I find it comical that the news media wants to continue to talk about a gender gap, and so I ll challenge you to ask a man about the gender gap as well. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/10/nikki-haley-slams-media-women-not-just-interested-in-contraception/
