Bella Santorum Getting Better, May Leave Hospital Today
Rick Santorum s presidential campaign announced that the pro-life Republican presidential candidate has canceled campaign events today because his daughter Bella continues to be hospitalized for a sickness related to her medical condition. This is the second time since the beginning of the year that she has required hospitalization. Bella suffers from a chromosomal condition called Trisomy 18.

Hogan Gidley, National Communications Director, said last week, Rick and his wife Karen have taken their daughter Bella to the hospital. The family requests prayers and privacy as Bella works her way to recovery. Gidley had said Friday afternoon that Bella s condition had stabilized and Santorum is expected to return to the campaign trail tomorrow. He indicated Bella could leave the hospital as soon as today, according to AP.

The family hopes to take her home from the hospital very soon, he said, saying Bella is doing much better. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/09/santorum-cancels-events-over-bellas-sickness-romney-drops-ad/

Cardinal Slams Obama Admin on Mandate: We Didn t Ask for Fight
During a weekend interview, Cardinal Timothy Dolan, the president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, took the Obama administration to task again for its controversial mandate requiring religious employers to pay for birth control and drugs that can cause abortions.

Appearing on CBS s Face the Nation, Dolan said We didn t ask for the fight, but we re not going to back away from it.

You ve got a dramatic, radical intrusion of a government bureaucracy into the internal life of the church, Dolan said. Our problem is the government is intruding into the life of faith in the church that they shouldn t be doing.

I think the public square is impoverished when people might be coerced to put a piece of duct tape over their mouth keeping them from bringing their deepest held convictions to the conversation, he said.

Cardinal Dolan said most Catholic institutions self-insure, so they will still have to pay for birth control and abortion-causing drugs. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/09/cardinal-slams-obama-admin-on-mandate-we-didnt-ask-for-fight/

Democratic Congressman: There is No Republican War on Women
Last week the leaders of the Republican and Democratic parties feuded over whether Republicans are engaging in a war on women because of their opposition to a mandate the Obama administration handed down requiring religious employers to pay for birth control and drugs that may cause abortions for their employees.

Asked to debate the mandate and the War on Women claims pro-abortion Democratic Party chair Debbie Wasserman Schulz made last week, pro-abortion Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, a Missouri Democrat, admitted on CNN s State of the Union show that it is wrong to use such language regarding opposition to the mandate. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/09/democratic-congressman-there-is-no-republican-war-on-women/

Mike Wallace Interview With Margaret Sanger Surfaces After Death
Following the death of journalist and reporter Mike Wallace, an interview he conducted with Planned Parenthood founder and eugenicist Margaret Sanger made the rounds across the Internet over the weekend.

Below are clips from the interview Margaret Sanger gave to Mike Wallace in 1957. During the interview, the full version of which can be seen here, Sanger talks to Wallace about why she became an advocate for birth control, abortion, stopping so-called overpopulation, and talks about the Catholic Church, and morality. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/09/mike-wallace-interview-with-margaret-sanger-surfaces-after-death/

Octomom Admits In-Vitro Fertilization Was a Mistake
Nadya Suleman, who achieved international notoriety as the Octomom and the mother of eight children via in-vitro fertilization, now admits undergoing the IVF fertility treatment process was a mistake. She says she wasn t in the right frame of mind to make such a decision, according to a New York Daily News report.

Nadya Suleman will do anything for her octuplets, but now she admits it was a mistake to have them. The mother of 14, who recently posed nude to earn rent money for her family, has revealed she thinks it was a bad decision to undergo fertility treatments after already having six babies. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/09/octomom-admits-in-vitro-fertilization-was-a-mistake/

Supreme Court Rating Jumps After Taking on Obamacare
Americans view the Supreme Court in more favorable terms after it spent a week taking on the Obamacare law that includes abortion funding and concerns about rationing health care.

Just before the highly publicized hearing on the constitutionality of President Obama s health care law, ratings for the U.S. Supreme Court had fallen to the lowest level ever measured by Rasmussen Reports. Now, following the hearings, approval of the court is way up, says pollster Scott Rasmussen.

According to a new survey the polling firm released today, 41 percent of likely voters now rate the Supreme Court s performance as good or excellent up 13 points from 28% in mid-March and it is the court s highest rating in two-and-a-half years. Nineteen percent (19%) still rate the court s work record as poor, unchanged from last month. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/09/supreme-court-rating-jumps-after-taking-on-obamacare/

Iowa Pro-Life Lawmakers Look to De-Fund Planned Parenthood
Iowa could become the next state to see a fight to de-fund the Planned Parenthood abortion business, which has last taxpayer funding in states ranging from Texas to Indiana to New Hampshire.

Republican lawmakers in the Iowa House are working on plans to push for new limits on state taxpayer funding going to the biggest abortion giant in the nation. Chuck Hurley of the Family Leader told Radio Iowa that, while Planned Parenthood doesn t get funding for abortions, it receives $6 million in state tax dollars as reimbursement for providing birth control and family planning for women that can be obtained elsewhere without supporting an abortion business. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/09/iowa-pro-life-lawmakers-look-to-de-fund-planned-parenthood/

3,000 Pray Against Abortion at Minnesota Planned Parenthood
One of the trends lost in today s political media culture is the fact that opposition to abortion and Planned Parenthood, as the nation s largest and most profitable abortion business, is stronger than ever before. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/09/3000-pray-against-abortion-at-minnesota-planned-parenthood/

Nothing Right About Wrongful Birth Lawsuits Promoting Abortion
We ve all heard of wrongful death lawsuits, but can a doctor be sued for wrongful birth? Evidently, the answer is yes. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/09/nothing-right-about-wrongful-birth-lawsuits-promoting-abortion/

Eric Holder s Conspiracy Against Pro-Life Advocates
Eric Holder is a busy man. When President Obama s chief law enforcement officer isn t tied up selling guns to Mexican drug cartels, refusing to prosecute self-serving cases of voter intimidation or ignoring wanted dead or alive bounties placed by black militants on the heads of private citizens, he s busy conspiring with pro-abortion extremists to bring the full weight of the federal government down upon innocent pro-life advocates. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/09/eric-holders-conspiracy-against-pro-life-advocates/

British Sperm Bank Owner May Have Fathered 600 Children
The Center for Bioethics and Culture has a good film out called Anonymous Father s Day, which deals with the emotional impact on children of sperm donors from not knowing anything about their biological fathers. This too is a form of reproductive commodification and the consequences in the lives of the people created are more intense than I certainly would have thought. Of course, that isn t the only way of being an anonymous father, but the film brings up issues I had not considered before seeing it. It is well worth your while. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/09/british-sperm-bank-owner-may-have-fathered-600-children/

Women s Suicides After Abortion Show What Planned Parenthood Denies
Planned Parenthood s denials to the contrary, many women suffer extreme guilt and mental anguish as a result of having an abortion. Killing one s child is simply not as easy the abortionists would have you believe. And we re seeing this truth play out most illustratively in China, where the country s One Child Policy has created such angst that, according to the Obama Administration, it is partly responsible for the fact that 500 Chinese women took their own lives each day in 2009. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/09/womens-suicides-after-abortion-shows-what-planned-parenthood-denies/

Planned Parenthood Refuses Donation From Fratire Writer Tucker Max

Almost 900 New Zealand Women Hospitalized for Botched Abortions
A total of 877 women were admitted to hospital in New Zealand between 2009 and 2011 for the treatment of complications following abortions. The total number of bed-days totalled 1047. These important statistics reveal that abortions not only kill an unborn child but can result in damage to a woman s health. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/04/09/almost-900-new-zealand-women-hospitalized-for-botched-abortions/

Arizona Right to Life Backs Jeff Flake for Senate Seat
