O Little Town of Bethlehem December 25, 2011 Christmas Day
The first Christmas took place in Bethlehem two centuries ago, when Jesus was born of Mary. On Christmas Day, 2011, Jesus Christ is not born physically in Bethlehem again, but He does want to be born in our hearts, in our families, in our world. Thus Meister Eckhart, mystic and writer in the 14th century could write: “If Christ were born 1,000 times in Bethlehem, but not in you, it would all be in vain. What help is it to me that the Father gives birth to his Son, unless I too give birth to Him!” Indeed, we rejoice and thank God for the birth of His Son. Let us also open our hearts to let Him be born in us. |
Rejoice, you who are just. It is the birthday of Him who justifies. Rejoice, you who are weak and sick. It is the birthday of Him who heals. Rejoice, you who are in darkness. It is the birthday of the Redeemer. Rejoice, you who are free. It is the birthday of Him who makes free. Rejoice, you Christians all. It is Christ’s birthday. Rev.
