“The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God.”
Luke 1:35 Mass for the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe
December 11, 2011
3rd Sunday of Advent
Dear CMMB Supporter,
When the Angel Gabriel appeared to Mary, she gave her Fiat, her Yes, and she became the Mother of God. In the hills of Mexico, in December 1531 Mary appeared to Juan Diego and left us the beautiful and miraculous image of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Mary is depicted as a Native American girl, and wears symbols both of a virgin and of a pregnant woman. Mexico is now one of the largest nations in terms of its Catholic population. Mary, the pregnant virgin, this Advent wants to visit that nation and every nation, and bring her love, light and peace to an all too troubled world.
O God, Father of Mercies, who placed Your people under the singular protection of Your Son’s most Holy Mother, grant that all who invoke the Blessed Virgin of Guadalupe, may seek with ever more lively faith the progress of peoples in the ways of justice and of peace. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
