PRAY like never before!

Did you hear what the American bishops have asked US—you, me and all faithful Catholics—to do?

The Cardinal Newman Society urges all our members—and all the Faithful—to join the bishops in their Prayer Movement for LIFE, MARRIAGE and LIBERTY!

It won't be easy, but the times call for extraordinary prayer and sacrifice:

The family... abortion... social decline... the fight for religious liberty...

At times like these—when LIFE, MARRIAGE and LIBERTY are under assault—there's no better time to pray!

And we should pray like we never have before.

Our bishops have urged each of us to commit to prayer and sacrifice over the next year.

From the Feast of the Holy Family on Sunday, December 30th, until the Feast of Christ the King on November 24th, 2013, Catholics are urged to:

  1. Pray the Rosary daily for life, marriage and religious liberty.

  2. Abstain from meat and fast on all Fridays.

  3. Take part in a special monthly Holy Hour at parishes or cathedrals.

  4. Participate in another Fortnight for Freedom in June and July.

This is such a wonderful Catholic thing to do, turning to prayer and fasting!

And all of us at The Cardinal Newman Society are grateful to the bishops for giving us these tangible ways to participate in the defense of life, marriage and freedom.

I hope that you and your family will join us in unity with our bishops by answering their call!

And then please, help us spread the word to Catholic schools and colleges, and urge them to:

  • inform students and their parents about the bishops' request;

  • teach classroom lessons on LIFE, MARRIAGE and RELIGIOUS LIBERTY;

  • organize daily communal Rosaries in classrooms, dorms or chapels;

  • hold the special monthly Holy Hours; and

  • refrain from serving meat in cafeterias on Fridays.

We're in this together, and our unity is in the Church!

Please spread the word to your families and friends, and commit to praying with the bishops for LIFE, MARRIAGE and RELIGIOUS LIBERTY.

Thank you, and may God bless you!

Sincerely yours in Christ,
Patrick J. Reilly
