Jury Selection Begins Monday on Abortion Doc Who Snipped Spinal Cords
Jury selection is set to begin on Monday in the highly publicized capital murder case against Philadelphia late-term abortionist Kermit Gosnell, whose squalid house of horrors abortion clinic and callous, almost flippant attitude toward his macabre abortion practices shocked the nation.
The Gosnell case is a watershed moment for the issue of abortion, said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue and Pro-Life Nation. The discovery of his horrific practices helped shed light on an abortion industry that has run amok without oversight or accountability for decades, and has prompted significant changes in abortion laws and attitudes toward enforcement in several states. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/03/03/jury-selection-begins-monday-on-abortion-doc-who-snipped-spinal-cords/
Botched Late-Term Abortion Lands 14th Woman in Hospital Since 2008
An ambulance arrived at Southwestern Women s Options, a late-term abortion clinic in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and transported an abortion patient to UNM Medical Center at approximately 1:00 p.m. today, Friday, March 1, 2013.
This is the 14th medical emergency since November, 2008. The last medical emergency at SWO took place on February 7, 2013. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/03/03/botched-late-term-abortion-lands-14th-woman-in-hospital-since-2008/
Obama Mandate Backers in Hysterics, Losing 12-4 in Court So Far
Democratic consultant Jason Stanford of the Huffington Post thinks he has made a scientific discovery by claiming birth control doesn t cause abortions. And he thinks opponents of ObamaCare s abortion-pill mandate should throw in the towel.
Apparently Stanford failed to research the definition of Orwellian. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/03/03/obama-mandate-backers-in-hysterics-losing-12-4-in-court-so-far/
Republicans to Boehner: No Budget Without Conscience Protections
In all of U.S. history, there have never been so many women in Congress and last week, they made sure their voices were heard. Thirteen members, all women except for Rep. (and Dr.) John Fleming (R-La.) sent a letter to House leadership urging Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) to refuse to pass a budget bill unless conscience rights are a part of it.
With regard to the ObamaCare contraception-abortion drug mandate, they write, Nothing short of a full exemption for both nonprofit and for-profit entities will satisfy the demands of the Constitution and common sense. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/02/21/arkansas-passes-bills-to-ban-abortion-sends-to-gov-beebe/
Pro-Lifers Oppose Obama Pro-Abortion Judicial Pick Caitlin Halligan
Americans United for Life Action President and CEO Dr. Charmaine Yoest called for the U.S. Senate to vote no on cloture on the nomination of Caitlin Halligan to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, in what will be a scored vote on life.
Halligan shows signs of being the quintessential judicial activist, noted Dr. Yoest. She is unqualified to sit on such a prestigious court because of her conduct in office, using her position in state government to advance radical, pro-abortion legal theories against the constitutional rights of pro-life citizens. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/03/03/pro-lifers-oppose-obama-pro-abortion-judicial-pick-caitlin-halligan/
There is Still Hope Obamacare Can be Stopped in Court
But Republican governors are folding like cheap lawn chairs, you might say. And political eunuchs in the GOP establishment are bowing to Obama like he bows to foreign dictators. Any hope of repeal is long dead, and besides, Chief Justice John Roberts put the final nail in the judicial coffin last summer, didn t he? Any chance of killing the Obamacare zombie is gone, right?
Wrong. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/03/03/there-is-still-hope-obamacare-can-be-stopped-in-court/
China Shows No Signs of Abandoning One-Child Abortion Policy
Last week, some rumblings in the international community included rumors that China may be looking at abandoning its one-child policy. Reggie Littlejohn of Women s Rights Without Frontiers emailed LifeNews to confirm that is no the case.
The fact that the Chinese Communist Party is considering the possibility of folding the family planning agency into the Ministry of Health is an inadequate basis on which to herald the end of the One Child Policy. There is no mention of the eradication of the policy; merely the streamlining of its administration. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/03/03/china-shows-no-signs-of-abandoning-one-child-abortion-policy/
Pro-Life Groups Tell UN Treaty Bodies to Stop Pushing Abortion
Pro-life organizations spoke at a special forum at UN headquarters this week to ask the UN General Assembly to reform treaty bodies which deviate from their mandates by pushing abortion, homosexuality and controversial sex ed programs. The UN is in the midst of a full review of the treaty bodies to identify ways to reform a system riddled with backlog, inefficiencies and abuse of authority. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/03/03/pro-life-groups-tell-un-treaty-bodies-to-stop-pushing-abortion/

New Study: Patients Like Terri Schiavo May Feel Pain
Persistent vegetative state is the only medical diagnosis I know of that contains a pejorative. No human being is a carrot. And the more we learn about these persistently unconscious patients, the more we seem to be discovering that they may not be gone after all. Now, a study shows that they may experience pain. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/03/03/new-study-patients-like-terri-schiavo-may-feel-pain/

Epidemic: Euthanasia Deaths Increase 25 Percent in Belgium
Recent studies concerning the Belgian euthanasia law found that: 32% of the assisted deaths are done without request and 47% of the assisted deaths go unreported in the Flanders region of Belgium. Another recent study found that even though nurses are prohibited from doing euthanasia, that in fact nurses are euthanizing their patients in Belgium. There has never been an attempted prosecution for abuses of the Belgian euthanasia law. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/03/03/epidemic-euthanasia-deaths-increase-25-percent-in-belgium/
Kansas Senate Bans Wrongful Birth Lawsuits, OKs Stem Cell Center
Pro-life legislation is broader than just abortion limitations, as the pro-life Kansas Senate demonstrated by passing two measures this past week: SB 199, establishing an adult stem cell clearinghouse and therapy center, and SB 142, enhancing civil litigation rights for the unborn. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/03/03/kansas-senate-bans-wrongful-birth-lawsuits-oks-stem-cell-center/
