bill championed by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo that would have
radically expanded abortion in the state has died in a
Republican-controlled state Senate committee.

Officials
in Montgomery County, Maryland, have decided not to appeal an adverse
court ruling that swamped their plans to silence pregnancy centers, and
the decision is expected to have a ripple effect on similar cases in New
York, San Francisco, Austin and other US cities.

The
trust between the genetic parents and the two couples to whom they gave
their embryos was especially critical because they couldn't count on a
predictable legal framework to govern the embryo adoption or regulate
parental rights over the children involved.
