Week of December 5, 2011
Dear Friends,
We hope everyone had a memorable Thanksgiving and had the chance to thank God for his continued blessings in our lives.
December 3rd – Terri’s Birthday
You might have seen our News Alert that this past December 3rd, was Terri’s birthday - she would have been 48 years old. It is because of the inhumane and premature death that my sister endured that Terri's Life & Hope Network was established.
In loving memory of Terri, we want to remind our supporters that we are dedicated to standing up for the cognitively disabled and using all of our resources to stand up to the many forces in our society who are constantly trying to convince the general public that killing our most vulnerable can be justified as compassion. We must recognize that every life is precious and valuable regardless of a person’s race, creed, age or physical/cognitive disability.
Terri’s Life & Hope Safe Haven Project Has Been Launched!
In our last newsletter, we announced that Terri’s Life & Hope Network has just reached out to major hospitals across America inviting them to join, “Terri’s Life & Hope Safe Haven Network”.
This will be a comprehensive directory of “Safe Haven” facilities which consists of hospitals, long term care facilities and other medical facilities where individuals can receive care and not be faced with the threat of having medical care, nutrition and hydration withheld.
We are just beginning to receive responses and will certainly keep you posted on our progress!
Collin Raye on EWTN!
If you missed Collin Raye’s interview on Thanksgiving Night on EWTN click here to watch the interview.
Collin tells his story of conversion, the loss of his granddaughter Haley, and what drew him to the Terri Schiavo Life & Hope Network to be our national spokesman. He also performs two songs from his latest religious/ inspirational album, His Love Remains.
The New Year is Fast Approaching – Don’t Forget Terri’s Day 2012!
March 31, 2005, is the anniversary of Terri’s court mandated dehydration death. As you probably are aware, Terri’s Life & Hope Network has established "Terri’s Day" which is observed every March 31st. The purpose of this day is to foster education, prayer, and activism regarding discrimination against the disabled, and advocacy for people in situations similar to what Terri and our family faced.
March 31, 2012 will be the 7-year anniversary of Terri’s death. As in years past, we will be having a Mass to remember Terri along with an educational session, similar to last year’s symposium, Erosion of Medical Ethics we held at Ave Maria Law School. Stay tuned for more information on Terri’s Day 2012!
Also, Terri’s Network will also be making the exciting announcement after the first of the year regarding the 3rd Annual Terri’s Life & Hope Concert! You can watch a brief video of the 2011 Life & Hope Concert with “The Letterman” and “The Beach Boys” by clicking here!
