Hearing: Obama Admin Discriminated Against Catholics on Abortion
A House committee held a hearing today on the decision by the Obama administration to deny to the nation s Catholic bishops a grant for a program helping sex trafficking victims because it would not refer for abortions.

The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee held the hearing on the administration s decision not to renew funding for United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) program to assist human trafficking victims.

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops had previously received a five-year $19 million grant to help victims of sex trafficking during the administration of pro-life President George W. Bush. Sensitive to how women are exploited in the sex industry, the Catholic bishops prohibit any subcontractors from using the funds to pay for or promote abortions. Instead, the Catholic bishops provide comprehensive case management services to survivors including medical and mental health services.

While the Obama administration extended the contract briefly in March, the bishops were recently notified that it would not be renewed. Instead, Obama officials awarded the grant to three other groups (Tapestri of Atlanta, Heartland Human Care Services of Chicago and the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants of Washington) even though the bishops have helped more than 2,700 victims with the funding.

During the hearing, committee chairman Rep. Darrell Issa, a California Republican, said the decision violated the Obama administration s pledge to be the most transparent in history. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/12/01/hearing-obama-admin-discriminated-against-catholics-on-abortion/

Obama Put Abortion Over Sex Trafficking Victims in Denying Grant
A little over a decade ago, I authored the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TPVA) of 2000 the landmark law that created America s comprehensive policy to combat modern day slavery.

Among its many mutually reinforcing provisions designed to prevent trafficking, protect victims and prosecute those who reduce people to commodities for sale the three Ps my legislation established the Health and Human Services grants program under review today.

For over a decade, we have achieved an amazing left-right, religious-secular, bicameral, bipartisan consensus, unified in combating sex and labor trafficking at home and worldwide without promoting abortion. Until today.

In what can only be described as an unconscionable abuse of power, the Obama Administration has engaged in what amounts to bid rigging; denying taxpayer funds to a demonstrably superior organization the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) with an exemplary ten year track record of performance that scored significantly higher in independent HHS reviews than two of the three NGOs that got the grant. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/12/01/obama-put-abortion-over-sex-trafficking-victims-in-denying-grant/

Women Are Political Pawns for Obama on The Issue of Abortion
President Obama claims that he has women s best interests at heart and that he is attuned to the plights and struggles every woman faces. He is so dedicated to the female population in the United States that he has launched a new campaign strategy for 2012, urging women to help re-elect him for a second term.

Obama s campaign specifically targets women because the campaign states women are among the minority voting groups Obama is hoping to reinvigorate. Women for Obama, led by Michelle Obama, is the initiative that focuses on encouraging women to stand up for the pro-abortion president because he promises to stand up for them. Standing up for women in Obama s eyes means providing them with free, abortion-inducing birth control and unmitigated access to the largest abortion provider in the world Planned Parenthood all on the taxpayers dime.

Obama has enlisted the help of Heather Colburn, former EMILY s List and Planned Parenthood employee, as his National Women s Vote Director to push his fundraising effort and promote his pro-female position. This is in line with the numerous abortion proponents Obama has appointed to his cabinet, committees, and the Supreme Court in the past three years. Many have been directors, board members, and major supporters of abortion organizations like NARAL, EMILY s List, and Planned Parenthood. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/12/01/women-are-political-pawns-for-obama-on-the-issue-of-abortion/

Planned Parenthood: Husband Not Allowed in Abortion Counseling
If Planned Parenthood had its way with influencing Alisha, she might not be the mother of two sons today. Last week we told you of Addison, who went to Planned Parenthood in Houston for help when she thought she was pregnant and found they only wanted to help her if she was interested in killing her baby.

Sadly, this wasn t a unusual story, and Alisha learned it a few years ago in Tampa, FL when she was just a 23-year old newlywed.

Preying on women who think Planned Parenthood will help them when they are poor and uninsured works to some degree because well meaning pro-life people unknowingly walk through their doors, which is how Alisha found the Planned Parenthood at 56th and Busch in Tampa. Not long after she was married, Alisha took a home pregnancy test which gave her a positive result. Because she didn t have insurance, and because she remembered many of her friends in high school got birth control from Planned Parenthood, she went for one of the ever-publicized free pregnancy tests at Planned Parenthood in Tampa. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/12/01/planned-parenthood-husband-not-allowed-in-abortion-counseling/

Abortion Clinics Fined $83,000 For Dumping Babies Bodies
The Texas Commission on Environment Quality has released documents showing two Texas abortion businesses and the disposal company Stericycle have been slapped with fines in excess of $83,000 for illegal dumping of the remains of aborted babies.

A three-month-long investigation conducted by pro-life groups into abortion centers in Texas reveals a pattern of evading parental consent laws and illegally dumping both medical records and hazardous waste.

Operation Rescue released the results of its probe on the widespread abortion abuses it uncovered during an investigation conducted from August 2010 through February 2011. The report contains evidence that crimes have been committed by a dozen abortion clinics throughout Texas.

The pro-life group told LifeNews.com it is in possession of the names and other medical information of hundreds of patients who obtained abortions during the time period because staff at the abortion centers illegally dumped the records outside the facilities in violation of the Federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). The organization turned over documents, photographs and other evidence of the crimes to the custody of the Texas Attorney General s office tomorrow. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/12/01/abortion-clinics-fined-83000-for-dumping-babies-bodies/

Apple: Siri Not Blocking Abortion Clinics on iPhone
After receiving complaints from pro-abortion activists who couldn t find listings of abortion businesses on their iPhones using the new Siri application, Apple representatives say the program is not blocking them.

An Apple spokesman told Mashable in an email statement that any problems users are experiencing finding abortion clinics is likely due to the newness of the technology for the voice-recognition search program rather than a purposeful attempt to hide results including abortion facilities.

Our customers want to use Siri to find out all types of information and while it can find a lot, it doesn t always find what you want, the representative said. These are not intentional omissions meant to offend anyone. It simply means that as we bring Siri from beta to a final product, we find places where we can do better and we will in the coming weeks.

As LifeNews reporter Andrew Bair noted, abortion advocates were outraged to find that when Siri was asked questions related to abortion the phone responded with a list of pregnancy resource centers instead of local abortion facilities. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/12/01/apple-siri-not-blocking-abortion-clinics-on-iphone/

Manager of Abortion Biz on Trial for Assaulting Pro-Lifer
The manager of an abortion facility in Kansas City, Kansas is now facing a trial after witnesses say he assaulted a pro-life advocate who was outside the abortion center at the time.

Mary Anne Sause was putting away her pro-life signs when Mark Pederson, the manager of the Aid for Women abortion center came up to her and began taking pictures of her. After doing so, Sause tells Fox 4 News that he, unprovoked, slammed her to ground.

I m thinking as a former rape victim that he s going to find out where I live, Sause told the television station. He literally picked me up and body slammed me into the ground.

Witness Kyle Nelson was present at the time and said he though Pederson was trying to rob Sause, so he called 911 on his cell phone.

I started hearing some screaming, he told the television station. It sounded like this woman was being robbed. He grabbed her arms in a way, and they had the camera you know in their hands. He flipped her like you would in a wrestling move to get someone onto the ground. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/12/01/manager-of-abortion-biz-on-trial-for-assaulting-pro-lifer/

Pope Condemns Subversive Efforts to Promote Abortion in Africa
Last week Pope Benedict issued a pontifical document denouncing efforts to promote abortion in Africa through confusing language in international documents and lack of clarity at international meetings. The Pontiff also criticized one-dimensional AIDS prevention programs as ineffective and not enough. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/12/01/pope-condemns-subversive-efforts-to-promote-abortion-in-africa/

Embryonic Stem Cell Research Not Dead Yet Despite Geron Pullout
Recent news that Geron has abruptly pulled out of the embryonic stem cell (ESC) business, after having just begun the only human clinical trials with ESC s, has been met with deserved rejoicing by the pro-life community. While it certainly is a blow to the ESC movement, it doesn t necessarily signal the impending implosion of the ESC industry. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/12/01/embryonic-stem-cell-research-not-dead-yet-despite-geron-pullout/
