Father’s Day and Trinity Sunday
Dear Friends,
Blessed Father’s Day! All fatherhood originates with God who on this day we celebrate as the Triune God who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Trinity is a mystery, impossible to fully understand, yet it can and does shed light on our lives and mission.
It reminds us that God is Father, the Creator and Lord of the entire universe; God the Son is the Savior, born of Mary, the Word made flesh who lived and lives among us; and God is Spirit, the Holy Spirit dwelling within us. God is love, as the Bible states; love in its origin (Father), love present among us (the Son incarnate) and love poured out into our hearts (the Spirit given at Pentecost). Surrounded by this love of God, we in turn try to witness to that love and share it with our neighbors. Is this not the challenge of every parent, of every father? And is this not what Catholic Medical Mission Board is all about!
On Father’s Day we thank our fathers for fulfilling this difficult and challenging mission. And we ask God to continue to shower His blessings upon them – those still with us as well as those who have passed away.
God our Father,
in Your wisdom and love You made all things.
Bless these men and bless all fathers,
that they may be strengthened as Christian fathers.
Let the example of their faith and love shine forth.
Grant that we, their sons and daughters,
may honor them always
with a spirit of profound respect.
Grant this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
