his opposition to pro-life legislation in the Alabama state
legislature, Rep. Alvin Holmes, a Democratic representative, made a
shocking claim. Holmes attempted to portray white Alabamans as racist
and claimed 99 percent of white people would have an abortion of their
baby if the father was black.
